When we walked into this hotel after a long bus ride, we were really excited to see our room - the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and we had heard several recommendations about this hotel. However, when we walked into our standard room, it smelled like mold, which we soon realized was due to the fact that the shower flooded the... More

I had the great fortune of staying at Villa Ban Lao with a group of friends and old classmates January 2012. I immediately fell in love with the beautiful grounds, The staff was wonderful and the customer service is gracious and always with a smile. The restaurant situated in the middle of the buildings is convenient for gathering with friends.... More

This was one of my favourite hotels in Laos, despite them having some building work going on! I found the staff here to be so friendly and helpful - they even asked what time we would be getting up so that they wouldn't do any drilling before we were up. I do agree with one of the previous reviews that... More

From reading most of the reviews I wasn't sure people had stayed at the same accommodation. The guest house which is the size of an hotel has at least 3 room categories . The garden is very beautiful, looked after and has lao and Buddhist ornaments and a built pond on the surface of which is the restaurat. Yes you... More

The hotel was booked by my travel agent as I did not want to do this by myself. I guess it is somewhat overpriced, but the room and the whole hotel is clean, staff friendly, however I was the only guest. Breakfast not over the top, but sufficient, free WFI-internet which is important for me. The walk to town is... More

This hotel has a quiet en nice location, just out of the centre (10 minutes walk.) The rooms are clean and have a nice balcony. The breakfast is very basic, but ok if you only spent a few days. The lady-owner is very friendly and helpfull, but her staff (the nightwatch) isn’t. During our visit in Laos, this was the... More

The exterior says this hotel once was a jewel but not much has been done to keep it in shape. Interior of the room was shabby. Mattress a disaster. Door to the bathroom was so damaged that it could not be closed. The mornings were very cold but breakfast served only outdoors. Besides the travelagent, Teamworkz in Vientiane, made a... More

We booked our stay at the Ban Lao guest house for four nights in late February over the internet. We followed all the procedures the Ban Lao required, including reconfirming a week ahead. When we arrived at the guest house, we were told, sorry, no room. But we had reservations that we reconfirmed, we said. Sorry and no interest in... More

Decent place with nice lady owner who has spent time in the States and speaks fluent English. It’s a 10 minute walk from the centre of town which is no bad thing as it’s more peaceful that way. The only thing that isn’t peaceful is that it is next to a Wat (temple) and once a week or so the... More
