We booked online, and were met at the airport by the owner (Mr Sam) which was great as we had not visited Luang Prabang before. Mr Sam was extremely helpful to us when we wanted to break our visit to travel to Nong Khaiw, and agreed to hold on to our main luggage for our return. He also arranged the... More

First impressions, well, average. The walk to town and shopping, including the night market is long. The room small. So small that only one person can walk around the bed sideways at a time. The bath and shower unit, although modern, was designed to be built in, but had been placed on the old bathroom floor, so the lift for... More

Balcony rooms with view of the Nam Khan of course are great, but rooms on the backside are quieter, and at $30/night, half the price. The included breakfast, on the patio overlooking the Nahm Khan, had a great selection. We liked the banana pancakes. The shower looked like a Star Trek transporter. Massage jets and a huge overhead shower head... More

This place is clean and that's about the best thing I can say about it. The staff (when you could actually find them) are not helpful at all. Could not even book a table at a well known local restaurant for us. Breakfast wasn't mentioned to us when we checked in, not times or where to go or anything. It... More

We looked at a couple of rooms and decided to splash out a little extra for room 1 - huge room with 2 double beds, river view and a dressing room. There was a bathtub with shower head (our only niggle about the room would be that the shower wasn't perfectly positioned for use in the bath). The owner speaks... More

My husband, our 10 year old daughter and I stayed 8 nights at this family run guesthouse and loved it. The Lao owner is very helpful and attentive, speaks English and German. It's situated down a quiet laneway and is surrounded by other family run guesthouses so it has a nice, safe feel. We had one of the lower floor... More

The owner was very helpful in the run up to our stay answering email queries and providing travel advice. Service was good when we were there though sometimes it was difficult to find anyone on sight to help answer queries - especially in the early evenings. The guest house was easy to find once you have specific instructions. It is... More

Stayed here march 09 had a great room with a smaller room attached that you could read or just stare at the Nam Khan river whilst sipping a G & T. Location a little out of town but we didnt mind, very pleasant walk. Breakfast was great, cooked to order so very hot. Fab omelettes. Owner was very helpful but... More

I already stayed twice at Villa Merry No.1. There is so many good things to say about this place! Not only that the rooms are very clean, cosy, the beds comfortable with moskito nets, and the views are breathtaking. The breakfast is fantastic, fresh fruit and very good coffe comes with it. Also the familiar atmosphere at this place is... More
