I stayed at the Manichan for two nights in May and really liked the place. I was met by Peter who was very welcoming and full of useful information which was given over a nice chat during check in. All of the staff where friendly. The communal area was great for speaking to other guests or just sitting having a... More

The guest house is located on a small, quiet lane just off of the river. The breakfasts are the best anywhere. There is a communal area right outside the downstairs rooms which could have been noisy but wasn't when we were there. It is also very clean. The owner are extremely helpful in giving information or arranging things to do.... More

I'd planned to stay here for 3 days and found myself still there 10 days later. Very friendly and accommodating - Peter put up with my endless requests to extend my stay and was always willing to recommend activities and restaurants. The morning breakfast was fantastic and the communal seating led to a great group atmosphere with all the guests... More

My brother and I stayed at Guesthouse Manichan for a week in July 2011. Its tucked in a narrow little lane, with direct access to the river and the main strip. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There were a few other guests staying during our visit, but it always remained quiet. We already plan to return!

I don’t, for the life of me, understand what the rave is all about with Manichan Guesthouse. When we arrived, only the staff was around and none of them spoke English. So we spent a good 20 minutes waiting and wondering if there’s another Manichan that we’ve booked ourselves into instead. When we finally got in touch with the owner,... More

The Manichan Team apologizes for any inconvenience that might have been caused. Since we are not a hotel, Manichan Guesthouse does not guarantee a 24 hours/day reception service (but close to 23 hours a day..). During the reservation, we do request every guest to give us their arrival details, in order to give directions about how to get to our... More

Two of us decided to try our luck at this gem when we arrived Luang Prabang. We count ourselves really lucky when Peter told us he had a room free for 2 nights. I came for the rumour best omelet and i am extremely satisfied! The special pancake was simple yet delicious. P Simple room. Good breakfast. Good location. Peter... More

We intended to stay at the Manichan Guesthouse, but when we arrived there was no room for us. However, the owner Peter told us about a nice, reasonable hotel next door (Lao Lu Lodge) and brought us there in person - which I think is a very nice gesture and the reason for my recommendation. Thank you, Peter!

Peter and his wife treated us like family when my boyfriend got sick with an unknown virus last June. It was a harrowing experience, and one that brought into stark relief differences in health care, among other things. Never go to the local hospital if you can help it. Back to the owners though--they cooked him special meals, feed him... More

Everything about this place is great. Peter and Manichan are wonderful hosts, the breakfast is rightly famed and the ambience is superb. This is a great place to meet fellow travellers, share a beer or two and share experiences. This place makes a stay in Luang Prabang such a pleasure. We liked it so much we stayed an extra day... Stayed 4 nights in February and came away very impressed with Peter's hospitality, helpfulness and Manichan's wonderful breakfast. The room and ensuite bathroom was clean and spacious. The guesthouse itself is in town, but not in the thick of the action on the main road. It is close to the Mekong River, the Royal Palace, Night Market and Wat Mai.... More
