Looked at about 8 different mid-range guesthouses in Luang Prabang before settling on this one. The rooms very incredibly comfortable and so well-finished. High ceilings, hardwood floors, spacious river-view hardwood balconies, on which we were served a generous breakfast every morning. Cash-only (no credit cards). $50 for a upper floor double may seem a little pricey for Luang Prabang, but... More

Stayed for 4 nights in January 2010. Booked on the spot, as our previous place was busy. The staff are incredibly nice. They asked us to join them for their staff lunch before we had even committed to booking. The woman who runs the house is very friendly and will tell you all about her various business ventures and ideas... More

This is a charming, comfortable and welcoming place to stay. It looks onto the Nam Ong river and is in the quieter part of the old town near the Apsara Hotel. All the rooms have balconies and are tastefully furnished. The host and staff were helpful and delightful and most spoke some English. Staying here enhanced our experience of lovely... More

Ban Lakkham is only a year old - so it's clean and tidy. The rooms and balconies on the upper floor are nice. However I don't believe this hotel offers good value for money in Luang Prabang. We paid US 90.00 dollars per night - and after walking around the town for a couple of days found several other small... More

This is a relatively new guesthouse - opened in spring of 2008. The owner is a really nice friendly woman who genuinely likes talking to her guests and helping with arrangements etc. She is a retired doctor and says that doing a Caesarian section is easier than using the internet - hence if you email about a reservation you aren't... Hotel rooms in Luang Prabang are expensive in comparison to the rest of Laos and indeed expensive in comparision to other developing countries. For what you get though, this is good value for Luang Prabang. Located on the waterfront of the Nam Khan River it has spotless clean rooms furnished with lovely wooden furniture... and a balcony with a view... More

My friend and I arrived in Louang Prabang with nothing booked - just to add to the adventure a bit! - and had already spent some time walking around the old town working through the list of recommended hotels from our guide book - with no luck. We had been turned away from several hotels until we walked a few... More

We stumbled upon the Ban Lakkham while looking for an alternative to a hotel we were desperate to leave. We were drawn in by the friendly smile of the manager, Edwin, who showed us a lovely room for only $35 (low season--prices double in high season). Just down the street from the Apsara, which we also looked at, we found... More
