stayed there after staying at their other hostal in Bouquete. Taxi driver did not know where it was and even when you are right in front of it there is no sign. That is a bit annoying. Hostal itself is nice, great terrace to sit outside and chat to people, spacious kitchen, dorms with or without aircon. I had without... More

I stayed at La Jungla for 2 weeks whilst I was at Spanish Panama language school. I chose it as it was recommended by the school and only 2 blocks away. However be aware that this is in the business end of town, a bus or taxi ride away from the old town. Also, the hostel isn't easy to locate... More

I stayed in La Jungla in January. It's perfectly located in the city center - everything you need is within walking distance. Too bad they charge 10% tax on top of the displayed prices... I slept in a dorm which was quite small - there was hardly any space between the bunk beds, but it was ok. Internet access is... More

My husband and I usually look for nice but economical midrange to budget accommodations, that aren't necessarily hostels. This was recommended to us by a representative working on Contadora Island and we needed to find a cheaper place to stay in Panama City. We took a change and it worked out fine. We had our own private room with a... More

After staying in inexpensive but lovely places in Ecuador, it was a bit of shock to return to dorm rooms and shared bathrooms at a cost that was more expensive than private rooms in Ecuador. La Jungla made the transition even more painful: it was not particularly clean, the shared bathrooms were a bit of a mess, the common area... More

La Jungla has deteriorated significantly since my last review and the perception of safety went out the door along with the five armed gunmen who robbed everybody at the Hostel last time I was there. The staff has grown surly, good luck getting coffee, multiple air conditioned rooms had the air conditioner broken and the kitchen and baths were filthy.... More

I only stayed at La Jungla for one night, while I was in transit in Panama City. But I was very happy with the location. It was great in that I arrived into Panama City at night, and once I dropped my bags off, it was perfectly safe to walk around the neighborhood, as a solo female traveler, to find... More

Upon arrival, they insisted that if we allowed them to stay with not only a toddler, but also a dog, that neither would be a problem. This certainly was not the case and they were asked to leave for their utter lack of respect. This couple violated several of our rules including allowing the dog to sleep in the bed... More

Admittedly, when I arrived at La Jungla, I was a little upset about it. It is in a very weird location and didn't look like somewhere I wanted to be. However, after meeting the friendly staff and eating pancakes the next morning, I couldn't have been happier! The place has decent enough sleeping accommodations for budget travelers and it is... It's true that it is a good place for meeting people and the balcony is very nice. Some problems are that the lower level had just 1 working bathroom for 20 people, very very cold showers, it's not very clean. The prvate double's are very very expensive for what you get. The phone numbers don't work (all 4 different ones... More
