We had a family room, while it was very basic, it was all we needed for a good rest. The staff were very attentive and while they didn't speak amazing english, they went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed. We also left some personal, valuable items in our room, and only realised once we had departed. We called and returned 2 days later, and they had our items and safely stored for our retrieval. Honesty goes a long way in big cities!!

I've stayed here several times and have been pleased each time. The hotel is clean and comfortable with a variety of styles of rooms. Some are quite small and a bit tight, others are huge! Beds are comfortable and there is a TV in each room. Bathrooms are serviceable with a shower stall with on-demand hot water. There is free wifi throughout the property. Hotel rooms and the front lobby have air conditioning. There are several attractive outside seating areas as well as a small lounge inside (not air-conditioned). We've had our meals there and they are always tasty and prepared so that they are safe for tourists to eat (however I would not drink the tap water or use it for brushing my teeth. Bottled water is available in the hotel lobby.) The staff is friendly and responsive to requests. I don't believe anyone speaks English but I was traveling with a group and a translator so my lack of Spanish wasn't a problem. There is security at the front of the building, including a gate that is locked in the evening. The surrounding neighborhood appeared safe, although I wouldn't plan on walking in the evening except in a group. I don't expect Western standards when I travel in Nicaragua, but this hotel comes as close to meeting the expectations and needs of tourists as I've experienced in this country. Highly recommended as a place to stay in Managua.

Casa San Juan is a one-story cement building, very nice, clean and quiet. There is lots of outdoor seating, air conditioning, breakfast included, which was served in the courtyard and very good. The next morning, Marisio, the hotel clerk, walked us to the UCA bus terminal through the residential/university area, and made sure we got on the correct bus.

We spent two nights here since we arrived late and left early from Managua. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly (like most of the hotels here that I have experienced, no one spoke any English.) There was a security guard out front, cable TV that worked and an ice cold air conditioner. Would definitely feel good about staying here again.

The best part about this hotel was the staff. They were very attentive and are happy to accommodate any request. Pros-reasonably priced at $50/night, it is clean, quiet, relaxing and good wi-fi accessible from the rooms. Additionally, the breakfast is included (eggs, pancakes, etc...). Cons-low water pressure (although manager said that it was only temporary), not easily accessible by taxis, so make sure you have your own vehicle or someone to pick you up.

I have stayed at Casa San Juan a number of times and have always been satisfied by the service relative to cost. For instance, this summer we arrived around 9 in the evening. I had called Norma ahead of time for her to save two meals for my husband and I. It was a basic Nicaraguan meal and was delicious. It turned out that two of our friends who picked us up at the airport hadn't eaten. Norma arranged for a meal to be brought in. It was a lovely evening for us and gave us a chance to get caught up. On our departure from Nicaragua we again stayed there and had called ahead for dinner. They arranged for the cook to come over with a meal for us as there were no guests with meal requests. I find them to be very accommodating.

Food was very well prepared & tasty, staff was SO friendly & accommodating and the air conditioning worked great. The wi-fi is spotty and really only works in the lobby and out on the patio which was a little disappointing, but other than that everything was awesome!
