When it comes to DPRK, you do not have much choices. Would you like to put yourself in an isolated island or city centre? If latter, make sure to request Koryo Hotel, which is located just a few blocks from Pyongyang Station. Rooms are rather spacious. Servicing staff are working very hard to ensure that you have a comfortable stay.... More

My hotel room is dark, drab and overwhelmingly brown. But I am in North Korea - function wins over design and cosmetics. I have an empty mini-bar where I can chill imported Italian lambrusco from the expensive ground-level shop. I can direct dial from the telephone to my family overseas. I can soak in a hot bath-tub (albeit a bit... More

I stayed at the Koryo for three nights during my trip to Pyongyang. This is like being in an old style business hotel from the 70s. Great spa and pool on the lower ground floor. Rooms were large with phone and TV (a few international channels only), and a seperate seating area by the window. More

After visiting communist Cuba and seeing how bizarre and oppressive a communist country can be, I thought N Korea would be even odder. Surprisingly, they just seem like normal people trying to get by in a kind of rough environment. The hotel wasn't luxurious, but you can see they try. I'm sure it's an oppressive country, I just honestly didn't... More

Stayed here while on tour in October 2010. I wasn't expecting anything brilliant considering this was North Korea but I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in a spacious, clean and well designed room. The suite was on the the 27th floor and it was spacious, with separate bathroom, as well as an open alcove with floor to ceiling windows... More

The hotel facilities look really of another age but everything is in working condition. The room are clean and everything including hot water was working. Towels are extremely small so might be better to bring your own if you can.The TV has a number of Russian, Chinese channels and BBC world. The breakfast is a buffet with limited choice but... More

It is a standard Russian style hotel. The rooms and furnishings are vintage. The lighting is not great, but they do have 110v. The most important two things to know: 1 - It was very clean 2 - The bed was only "sort of hard" The TV got a couple of international news channels which was a bonus. Lastly, they... More

Second time I stayed in Koryo - first was in 1999. No great changes, although I managed to get international TV in my room. North Koreans no longer ask for cell phones at airport. Confusing payment system, apparently due to the new currency "reforms". Pay in cash. Our price was 74 euros, which was reasonable enough for what I got.... More

Most people coming to North Korea will come with a tour group which will stay in one of two hotels for foreigners. I stayed in the Koryo Hotel, which was nice. The room was large and there was hot water and a T.V. which actually showed t.v. channels that are banned throughout the rest of N. Korea (BBC, CCTV etc.... More
