The answer is easy: Because it's a great two stars hotel. In that category of hotels, we don't expect much and what we get in Hotel Iberia is definitely a better deal. First, a great welcome. It's a family hotel and the staff at front desk like to chat with their guests. True, it helps when you speak Spanish. The... More

This is the kind of hotel that you're not sure if it was good or not. For sure, the location is nice since it's walk distance from the whole old town (ciudad vieja). So you get planty of restaurants, a grocery store 2 mins away, etc. I booked a room for 2 twin beds 1 month before. We arrive at... More

Very good location, close to Ciudad Vieja (Old City), and our room was very good, with a double matrimonial bed, air conditioner, LCD TV and frigobar. It was very clean too. The staff was very pacient, despite the fact thar they couldn't speak english. But they tryed to explain everything. For this price? I think you woudn't find any hotels... More

Room was clean and tidy if a little dated. The hotel itself was pleasant and well decorated. There is a nice area for eating and relaxing, and computers for internet access. Be aware there is no lift - you will have to carry your bags up at least one flight of stairs. The staff were friendly and generally spoke at... More

Extremely friendly staff! They arrange anything you ask for, e.g. bike rental. The hotel looks very nice and well maintained. Rooms are okay, not too big. Bathroom is tiny but clean. More

Very small, inexpensive hotel in a good location. No frills, but a pleasant enough place to stay. Staff was fine, although they struggle with English. I will agree with others that this is an odd choice for the #1 hotel in Montevideo - this hotel is purely a value option, as there are certainly many more posh places to stay.... More

We found this hotel to be exceptionally good value for the price (which is cheaper than rooms at some hostels). The room was clean, spacious, and very nicely furbished. It's got good facilities, including good computer and internet facilities. The hotel is located in a good area, close by to shops, restaurants, and a supermarket. We only saw a little... More

We booked this hotel as it was ranked number one on Tripadvisor, after our two night stay I have no idea why! The staff were welcoming, although the lady that serves breakfast could do with putting a smile on her face as she had a quite a habit of "huffing and puffing" and snatching when she asked for our passports!... This hotel has made me seriously question Trip Advisor's reliability. Upon booking, The Hotel Iberia was rated as #1 in Montevideo. Now, Montevideo could well be the grubbiest, most boring Capital city either of us have ever been to (and we've been to ALOT) but i can't believe for one minute that this is the best hotel the whole city...
