We only stayed one night, but the experience was excellent. The staff really bent over backwards to meet our needs. Being vegetarians, it is not easy sometimes to travel in some parts of the world, but the fine restaurant at the Sumaq really tried to accomodate us. More

My husband and I traveled to Macchu picchu for our 20th wedding anniversary and booked several nights at the Sumaq. We were definitely pampered during our stay... We had high tea each afternoon, and the meals at the hotel were phenomenal. Each meal was prepared with a gourmet's touch. The rooms were also very comfortable and roomy. Very helpful and... More

The hotel is well-located, with the bus to Machu Picchu stopping just outside the door, the river running fast and beautiful across the street, and an easy walk to shopping and restaurants in town. I had single accommodations, and my room was large and well-appointed. I had a view of the jungle rather than the river, but there are plenty... More

We stayed at Sumaq one night before seeing Machu Picchu. Room on river has excellent view of the roaring river. We picked this hotel only because other nice hotels were already booked. After paying $450/night we didn't want to have to get two rooms for ourselves and our teenage daughters. They told us there was a two person max since... More

The previous reviews are spot on. Service was perfect and the included dinner and breakfast were wonderful. The room was on the small size and nothing too special (except for the fabulous view of the flowing river out front), but perfectly comfortable. My wife injured her ankle while hiking at Machu Picchu and needed to be seen by a doctor... More

Everything about this hotel is top notch! A porter greets you at the train station to take your bags to the hotel. After your afternoon at Machu Picchu, you return to a spacious room with comfortable and immaculate accommodations - and they make a special stop for Sumaq guests right at the door. The design and decor of the hotel... More

There are hotels nearer the train station in Aguas Calientes but this one is worth the few hundred metres extra walk (Aguas Calientes is pretty small...). We stayed as part of a tiny group tour and were extremely impressed. They met us at the train station and took our luggage to the hotel and then on to our rooms. (You... More

Can't speak highly enough of this hotel - we were traveling with our 11 month-old and 2 1/2 year old, the staff at check in spotted the baby and offered a cot at no extra charge, it was a full domestic cot (not travel cot), they assisted us in the restaurant and the cafe with the children by anticipating all... We stayed at the Sumaq Machu Picchu for one night in December 2011. The hotel staff greeted us and picked up our luggage at the train station as we continued with our Hiram Bingham trip to Machu Picchu. The return bus dropped us off right in front of Sumaq Hotel, andwe checked in to the hotel immediately. The hotel staff... More

Hotel Sumaq is conveniently located on the road up to Machupicchu. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have nice amenities. The food at the restaurant is also decent. Our stay here would have been quite nice. However, the hotel made an enormous error in booking our excursion to Machupicchu, and in order to cover up their mistake, blatantly lied to... More
