This hotel is ideally located at the base of Machu Picchu. It has an oustanding restaurant on the premises with a great staff. Loved walking through the orchid garden surrounding the hotel. Rooms are a bit small but very comfortable. The pisco sours are the best in all of South America. Machu Picchu is a must see for everyone. Truly... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and while it was a massive splurge (about US$800/night), it was amazing to be so close to the ruins. Our room (21) had a view of the entry gate and Waynapicchu mountain. The staff were all brilliant (very helpful and friendly) and the food was excellent. We booked online and unknowingly bought a package... More

We stayed in the hotel for just one night on 5 January this year. It was very expensive and if not for its close proximity to the entrance to Machu Picchu, I would not have rated it very good. The room, No. 30, is very small and opens into a tiny garden without any view. It rained very heavily during... More

The atmosphere is of an African Safari Lodge - simple decor with taste. I agree with everyone who thinks it expensive but there will always be somebody to fill the rooms at the price and it is the only hotel at Machu Picchu. With a captive audience the Sanctuary Lodge does not rest on its laurels. The service is superb... More

This was the most expensive hotel we had stayed in so we has high expectations going in. The location is fantastic. The entrance gates to Machu Picchu are only about 30 meters from the hotel entrance. Our room had a terrace which looked out on Wayna Picchu. Nothing better than breakfast on our terrace watching the clouds swirl around the... More

We made reservation through a travel agent and warmly greeted by the staff when we arrived. To be honest I was expecting a bigger hotel for the price that we were paying however I was very pleased to have stayed there. Service was excellent, staffs are friendly and upon check-in, the receptionist told us that the mini bar was free... More

We feel so fortunate that we got to stay at Sanctuary Lodge. The location, of course, is perfect but it was the staff that made our visit so memorable. They couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. From the front desk to the restaurant staff we were treated as if we were good friends. And everyone was extremely professional, efficient... For the cost it fails to deliver on so many levels. Felt like a global chain, rather than what should have been a wonderful experience. Room dull, but clean, restaurant dull, but acceptable, no decent communial areas. I would save you money, stay in the valley and enjoy a bit more of real Peru. More

Dear guest , Thank you for sharing your comments with other Tripadvisor users. I am sorry to hear your experience was not enough good for you. I would like to explain some details about your comments. Our Lodge is in the middle of an archaeological park and at the entrance of the Inca citadel, Machu Picchu, both advantages that our... More

TA HOTEL REVIEW # 202 MY TRAVEL STYLE: If possible, I try to stay away from business hotels and strongly prefer resorts that resemble the Four Seasons, Aman, and Oberoi but try to find similar properties at lower cost. I seek out the “wow” experiences. LOCATION: Excellent. The only hotel steps from the entrance of Machu Picchu. Other hotels require... More
