Firstly, I would qualify my following comments with 2 observations. Even half decent accomodation in Lima is generally fairly expensive, and the standard of hostel relative to price is fairly low. Good relaxed and quiet location, friendly staff, limited English, very basic rooms. They're doing ongoing work at the place so may get better room wise.

Hostel pukara was an inexpensive and reasonable hostel. It was a little walk from the main area of Miraflores but was quiet, clean with good cable tv and the usual bread and jam breakfast. Arrived a 2 am after flight to Lima. Helpful staff checking in. Room: cramped, no windows . bleccccch. No particular value for the price. Changed next day for a better room. Showers OK. Nice location. Still searching for a better Lima hotel/hostel.
