My friend and I stayed a few nights before going to Macchu Picchu, and had a lovely experience. Back the it was run by a young couple who were very friendly and helpful. A bit cold in the rainy season, but otherwise fine.

My partner and I stayed for just over a week here. We felt cozy and safe our entire stay and would highly recommend it. The family running it make you feel very welcome and the chow chow dog is the cutest! Breakfast is great with lots of bread and tea. They also serve up an egg (scrambled or fried). My... More

This is the worst run hostel I have ever stayed at! The owner's mother promised us our money back because the owners had kept us up all night. In the morning we asked for our money, and the (still drunk) hostel owner totally flipped. He chased us out of the hostel even though we were already walking away. He pursued... More

The Sunday night before our trek to Machu Pichu (5:00 am wake up in the morning) the owners had a birthday party at the hostel for one of their family members. All evening into the early morning there was very loud partying and the owner was drunk himself. We got no sleep and it was terrible. When I asked them... More

This is not close to anything and is in a pretty sketchy area. Wish we hadn't stayed there. Here's why: They decided to have a huge family bday party the night before we had to get up for our trek. They were yelling and screaming all night, the windows don't block any noise. No kitchen use. Breakfast is just ok.... More

We stayed here before and after our trip to Machu Picchu, and it was great. This has to be one of the best places we have found in South America. The owners are really friendly and helpful, the rooms were so nice and comfy that we didn't want to leave. The breakfast was so good, and the location is a... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in the hostal for Several days before and after our visit to Machu Picchu. The rooms are very large, nicely furnished and really clean. Shower is top - always providing hot water. Breakfast is continental with eggs, bread, butter, jam and Orange juice. The owners, a peruvian couple is really friendly and Speaks both Spanish... More

We had a reservation for two nights and arrived at 5am on the day of check in expecting to just drop off our bags. Instead they gave us a shared bedroom to sleep for a couple hours. Good thing because we had just got done with a 31 hr hell on earth bus ride. We woke up and they fed... More

La Casa de mi Abuelo Lodging is the kind of place even the most finicky and snooty traveler would find suitable for a night or two and the budget traveler, which the hostelery targets, will feel is an incredibly good deal. The lodging is clean, the rooms are large with nice bathrooms, and the breakfast with eggs is cooked to... More

We stayed here in early June before heading into the Sacred Valley. It was recommended to us by the hostel we stayed at in Puno (Quechaus - great place - see review under Miskiwasi) and they got us a good price. The owners son met us at the bus station which was great but then wanted more (a pittance really)... More
