We arrived at Cabanaconde a little after sunset and were greeted by Leandro the Hostel mananger. In less than 5 minutes we were in our rooms which were very clean and non bunk beds which was great. The food and bar were excellent i recommen the pachamama pizza, i havent had alpaca so tender. The hostel is well located and... More

I honestly don't know who these people are who are providing such glowing reviews of this god-awful hostel! There are loads better places to stay in Cabanaconde, and the staff are really not that helpful (in fact, we didn't find the owner to be friendly at all). The Belgian woman is no longer with the hostel owner so don't expect... More

The evening atmosphere at the bar/restaurant was super fun. We met many interesting travelers during our stay here. The pizza is also super delicious. The staff was kind and helpful as well. Our room (private matrimonial ensuite) was less than average. The bed was not very comfortable and the whole place could have used a good scrubbing. It is also... More

This is a friendly hostel in Cabanaconde (not in Arequipa) which gets its reputation through the helpful staff, and good restaurant. The rooms are basic and quite cold (although there are a lot of blankets on the bed) and the bathroom is very basic, but with hot water. What made our stay here enjoyable was the cosy restaurant where we... More

I arrived at Pachamama in Cabanaconde after a six hours bus trip from Arequipa, under heavy rain (the main street was flooded), and the hostel seemed like heaven. The host, Leandro, is from Argentina and he spent four years in Patagonia. Friendly, helpful, he speak English very well (which I found it to be a rarity in Peru). During the... More

I stayed for one night in the Pachamama hostal, which is kind of a "reference" for people trekking in the Colca Canyon. I slept in a 4-bed dorm, which had a wet dog smell and was a few blocks away from the main building (where the restaurant is). I was told I could have breakfast at 6 in order to... More

We stay in Panchamama for two nights, in a double room with private bathroom. There’s another extra bed in the room. There’s a small shelf and a hanger witch is great and rare to find in Peruvian hostel; despite the conditions could be improved with an extra lamp close to the bed. We find the room dusty and not very... More

We were seduced by the lovely Pachamama website for our stay in April. The property is actually in Cabanaconde in the Colca Canyon some 6 hours drive from Arequipa. The atmosphere was nice, bar and restaurant very good and family running it were lovely. The availability of a washing machine and clothesline was also a plus However the original couple... More

If you are planning on visiting the Colca Canyon in Peru then you must stay at Pachamamas before heading down into the canyon. Not only will they be able to provide you with a fantastic website about the canyon, it's attractions, routes and hostels but they will also provide you with the most delicious food -and plenty of it -... We stayed here as a lauching point for our independant trek into the Cañyon de Colca. The rooms are basic but very clean, the showers steamy (and the hot water is 24 hrs), and the owners knowledgeable and very helpful. Lui came up to us individualy and explained every trail in detail and provided us a map. Our trip was... More
