The staff could not have been better, the breakfast was good just got a little old being the same thing everyday. Very comfortable place, nicely decorated and clean. I recommend the mini sweet, a little small but will get you away from the street noise unless you want a balcony that overlooks the street. The staff went out of their... More

Cuenca has many charming hotels in lovely historic buildings, of which the Casa San Rafael is a beautifully presented example. What makes this hotel really stand out is the warmth of its welcome. It is family-run and while you are there everybody makes you feel like one of that family. We booked at short notice when they were pretty busy... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in mid-March 2013 at the Casa San Rafael in Cuenca, Ecuador. Its location in the old city is ideal. Our room was very comfortable and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Highly recommended!

The room was very comfortable and nice location. The service was exceptional. Rafael and staff are super cool people! They made me feel like a part of the family. Casa San Rafael is a gem in Cuenca. Casa San Rafael is a charming historic hotel in downtown Cuenca. The location is perfect, just a few blocks from the center of town. Breakfast was fabulous and the staff really go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms themselves are actually quite small and basic. The ones on the back have no windows. However,... Entering this hotel felt like coming home. The entire staff including Rafael and his extended family could not have been more helpful and concerned about our comfort and welfare. Rafael delights in his role as host and takes great pride in the decor and ambiance. The included breakfast was great. We truly felt that we were among family and dear... More

A 110-year-old colonial building restored by Rafael, the owner, .to a stunning hotel with Cuenca charm. HIs daughters and staff were so friendly and helpful that we felt like we were part of their family . We stayed there for 4 nights and each day was better then the one before. Our room was always made up and cleaned daily.... More

This small hotel colonial quaint by the most delightful family. The daughters are beautiful girls who speak several languages english included.
