Stayed at the Hostal Santa Barbara three times during October, before and after a cruise to the Galapagos Islands and again after a few days to Otavalo and back. We had two different rooms. Both were very spacious and clean, although our second room, which was in a seperate building at the back of the main house was much quieter.... More

This was our second stay at the hotel. This is a charming replica colonial home in the Mexican/Spanish style and the rooms were spotless and well appointed. The food in the hotel's Italian restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced (great espresso, too!) Gloria, one of the managers, took very good care of us and was friendly, helpful and gracious.... More

My partner and I stayed in Hotel Santa Barbara for the nights we travelled through Quito on connecting flights and were pleasantly surprised! The building is very authentic, but fresh and clean. The rooms are spotless, and TV has good coverage. On the first night we were given a family room which was very spacious!(Hence the photograph of a room... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hostal Santa Barbara for 3 nights in February 2009. The hostal is a beautiful old mansion with a lot of character and charm. We stayed in the two lower level rooms, which were spacious and clean. The back room might be a bit quieter as it is away from the street. The reception... More

After being cancelled by Los Alpes one day before checking in to Quito and scrambling to find a last minute accomodation, the Santa Barbara confirmed our reservation for three nights...I was concerned. No need at all. This wonderful hacienda was clean, beautiful and had wonderful staff. They arranged impeccable taxi pick-up (thanks Angel), had very comfortable rooms and a fine... More

We found this hotel after a disappointing stay at another place in Quito and loved it! Large rooms in a beautifully restored old mansion close to the Mariscal quarter, very friendly and helpful English-speaking staff and a nice little Italian restaurant. The place has a very down-to-earth feel to it and we really felt like being at home there. Some... More

Taxi drivers had problems finding the hostel. It's a converted Hacienda with twenty rooms. Safe, clean, and the staff really takes good care of you. The resturante had only six tables but the food was very good. The down side is none of the waiters or waitress speak english and the menu is in Spanish. I don't speak or read... More

the place is unpretentious, clean and very well located. The staff is both professional and friendly. The restaurant offers both European and Ecuatorian fares of very good quality. The pasta are delicious, the owner is Italian! Great value for money. Quito is a noisy city; until the new airport outside town becomes operational, aircraft noise will be heard all over... More

We stayed at the Hostal Santa Barbara two times in December and decided not to stay there in January. The hostal is a beautiful old mansion and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Our first stay of three nights was in the small building in the back (not the main building). The room was large and clean but had... More
