This is by far the most expensive place to stay, but why not treat yourself? As reviews have stated, where can you go and stay, and step out of your room to the hot thermals private pools? This is my first time to stay in a hotel that utilizes the thermals to heat the rooms like a humidifier...absolutely wonderful. They... More

Staying at the Papallacta Hotel is expensive, but where else can you walk out of your room and jump right into a thermal baths? The rooms are large and nice. The views of the surrounding mountains beautiful. And the thermal baths are so nice! More

The most beautiful place I've ever stayed. I wish I could live here. You can spend an entire week soaking in these hot springs and never tire of the view. You have the Andes all around you with their constantly changing light and only the sounds of running water in your ears and the warmth of the healing waters around... More

The location is wonderful. It’s in a high altitude valley from where you have excellent views of the Antisana volcano - 5,704 metres high - in the south and are flanked by mountainsides. It’s one of the gateways to the large Cayambe Coca Ecological Reserve. Rooms are clean and well maintained and have what you expect and need. You can... More

Spent three nights at the Termas de Papallacta in late Dec. 2011. Had a wonderful time. Everyone was very, very friendly and they keep the pools and the rooms immaculately clean. We stuck to using the pool right in front of our room--even though the hotel was pretty full, we still felt like it was our own private pool. We... More

This is a beautiful hotel hidden near a small village in a quite remote area of the mountains. It's a long drive from Quito, but worth it. The rooms are in a series of rustic looking huts. The look is only to create an atmosphere though as the lodging isn't rustic. The rooms are well appointed. The beds are comfortable... More

This is a resort by all appearances; yet it lacks the warmth usually associated with upscale facilities catering to a monied clientele. As it is, it might as well be a motel for all the personal service rendered. Perhaps, the problem lies in the fact that the facility does a large tour group business, and this has produced in the... We stayed at the unique hotel during a trip across the Andes, where it is located. Apart from the 10,000 ft + elevation, what distinguishes it from many others is its thermal pools, where guests can lounge after a day on the road (before taking a cold dip if they literally have the heart). The rooms are in thatched covered... More

The hot springs are wonderful. There is a choice of pools to share or be alone in. They even include a polar pool for cooling off. They allowed us champagne and glasses at the springs. The food in the restaurant is delightful. The owners also own a trout farm and raise their own seafood. Worth a taste. The rooms, however,... More

Love the mood there, with the hot water spring pools and the mist flowing over, hot and cold at once... the sound of the river next to some cabins, and the fog falling at night make it terribly romantic, even with kids. The quaint old fashioned rooms, with the chimneys inside, keeps everybody warm. The kids slept in a loft... More
