We spent two and a half days at La Alegria. (Half, because it was hard to leave and because you can check out almost any time you want!) The scenery there is beautiful, and equally important, the owners, Patti and Gabriel, are the most gracious of hosts. You feel like a guest, not a lodger passing thru. The hosts sit... More

La Alegria is more than a place to stay an more than an equestrian experience. It was a pleasure to be there. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Mauricio, a member of the Espinoza family, who showed us to our stunning room, and invited us to lunch in the main house. Mauricio gave us a grand tour, including... More

I spent three days at the hacienda and enjoyed every aspect of my stay. The room was wonderful. The food was great and differed with every meal. The farm is truly a family affair. Initially I was hosted by Gabriel's cousin, Mauricio, who showed me around the grounds, including the family dairy business. I rode two days, with Mauricio the... More

We took a family break to enjoy beautiful countryside, fantastic food and ride in the Andes of Ecuador. Our experience was first class in every way, and the horses were tailored to the abilities of each one of us. Gabriel and Patty do everything to make the stay special. My only complaint, it was not long enough. Many, many thanks,... More

We just had a wonderful time in Hacienda La Alegria. Not only did we love the place, rooms and food, but we had the opportunity to go horse back riding and loved the landscape and horses. You can tell when horses are well treated. A must when you visit the Andes of Ecuador More

I must say that I was very excited about our planned visit to Hacienda La Alegria after reading all the glowing reviews. But I was also a little skeptical thinking - can any place really be that great? Well, I have to say that YES it can!! From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Gabriel and Paty we... More

My husband and I found this slice of heaven 2 years ago onthe way to the Galapagos, fell in love with it and vowed to return - so we did and spend 10 days here! I can't say enough good things about Hacienda La Alegria! This needs to be on your bucket list! The owners, Gabriel and Paty and their... More

I just returned from a 10 day stay at Hacienda La Alegria! What a delightful place. The owners and hosts are constantly striving to attend to every need of their guests. In my case, I was part of a Plein Air Painting workshop based at the Hacienda. This was a new experience for Gabriel and Pati Espinosa, the hosts, but... More

Our group of 8 spent 2 nights at Hacienda la Alegria in Jan-11 and had a wonderful time. Gabriel, Patti and staff were great hosts - warm, friendly and accommodating. We arrived directly from an Ecuadorian amazon trip and Gabriel's staff did our laundry, got us re-calibrated for high altitude hiking in Cotopaxi NP. The rooms were large, well appointed,... More

Matt and I needed a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary! Our travel agent suggested we contacted La Alegria. We were impressed from the beginning when they offered pick-up transportation from and to Quito (at our house!!). It was a completely lovely experience. Gabriel was a superb host...we shared good moments, good conversation, good food, good accommodations. We enjoyed the... More
