Located on the banks of the Napo River, it's Paradise Lost, Casa del Suizo! The guest rooms are just rustic enough to make you feel like an Amazonian explorer in the old days. Leave your computer at home, because nobody needs to find you anyway! Personal highlights include: butterfly farm, bird watching, rain forest treks (in the RAIN),animal rescue center,... More

Everything about our week at the lodge was brilliant. We had 3 guides who were at our side for the whole week. We had 2 excursions a day and they were beautiful, exciting and informative. One of my favourite highlights, (and there were many) was the nightly air show by the pool preformed by a roop of bats that dipped and... We spent five days in this lodge and had a very pleasant time. I consider that being at the jungle there were more than enough commodities, buffets were wonderful and abundant. Rooms were very confortable and nicely decorated, balconies had an amazing panoramic view. Not sure what the person below us expected when staying in the jungle. I would highly... More

We stayed two nights at this La Casa during a tour of Ecuador. It is a perfectly comfortable hotel flanked by a small village at the very edge of the Amazonian basin and not at all a lodge in the wilderness. A short, motorized canoe trip brings you there from a muddy embankment on the Napo river (while in fact... More

Nov 14th, 2011: My 56th Birthday! Woohoo! Today we'll be heading down from the cool, clean mountain air of the Ecuadorian highlands into the Amazon basin. Stupidly, before our trip I was regularly checking the weather forecasts for Quito and the surrounding areas neglecting to check the weather for the Punta Ahuano area where we'd be staying in the Amazon.... It requires a short motor canoe ride up the Napo River to reach this hotel. The view from our room was spectacular. But not all rooms have a river view. The hammock on the balcony is a nice touch, even if it is a single. The amenities in the room are lacking no clock, tissues or trash can. Only two... More

Casa del Suizo, Amazon, Ecuador. You have to arrive by motorized canoe but as one reviewer noted, there is a small town right outside the resort gate so it is not that remote. If you are looking for nice lodging with a bit of nature, this is the place for you! I stayed in a cabin elevated above the Napo... More

Stayed there in July. Had rooms 911 and 912. Construction is goin on, they are planning to build a new swiming pool and more rooms. We were told this when we were leaving, after 3 DAYS OF CONSTANT NOISE, noise started at 7 am, during nap time, finished at 6... not the best way to relax. Food was good, the... More

First off, the Casa del Suizo provides, perhaps, the most comfortable amenities in the area. If this is all you are seeking, with the usual culture/adventure jaunts thrown in, you'll do just fine here. However, having stayed there last April, I would hesitate to recommend the place to anyone beyond the most spoiled traveler or, perhaps, families with very young... More

Those who are hoping for a true Amazon ecolodge experience will be disappointed. While this seemingly remote lodge requires that you travel up the Napo River by boats it is important to note that the property is adjacent to a moderate sized town with cars and many modern amenities. The property is attractively located on the river, but adjacent hiking... More
