“Lots of problems. Avoid this hotel.”

I think this hotel is actually closing down so you may not even have the opportunity to make the mistake of staying here which is a good thing. I paid around $60 -- expensive for Quito, Ecuador -- and was sorely disappointed! I'm sure Hotel Chalet Suisse was nice when it first opened (perhaps in the 60s?), but the room they gave me had broken light fixtures, one tiny piece of soap for both the shower & sink, and was LOUD due to the bars below and the... We stayed one week in the renovated part of the hotel, the rooms were brand new with wooden floors, flat screen Tv, Air conditioning. We had a wonderful time there. Because of the casino renovation, there were a few problems with water so the Chalet Suisse offered us to stay in a nearby hotel, much more expensive, at their expense... More
