We stayed at the Casa Gangotena for a few days after having a wonderful time in the Galapagos. The hotel is in the old town of the city which is great for getting to all the cathedrals, museums, and main square. It has been beautifully redone since it was formally an old family home. Our rooms were spectacular with wonderful... More

Used this as a base to explore Quito. Fantastic hotel in a really good location. Staff efficient and friendly. Food in the restaurant very good.

I travel a lot and this hotel is one of the best I have stayed in. I had a room overlooking the Plaza and on my first day, when I was flattened by the altitude, I was perfectly happy to sit in my room looking at life going on in the plaza. The service was spectacular. The staff were there... More

The owners Metropolitan Touring have spent a huge sum in converting this former private mansion into a superb boutique hotel. Our room looking out on the plaza was outstanding, food divine and customer service top notch. The only negative comments I could add is that you do get some street noise from the busy plaza and from an environmental view... More

This is basically a brand new boutique five start hotel within the exterior of an old mansion in the historic centrebof Quito. The actual location is fantastic being right on Plaza de San Francisco and with the main Pre-Columbian Art museum next door. The hotel can only be described as beautiful, with large rooms and, most importantly fantastic natural light... More

Definitely one of the loveliest of the new boutique hotels going in to Quito. Service is extraordinary. Decor is chic & old colonial. Setting on the Plaza San Francisco. A first class restaurant (sit near the windown& open the drapes on to the plaza view). Wow!

My wife, 14 year old son and I spent three splendid nights at Casa Gangotena in March, 2012. I highly recommend the hotel. In the fall of 2011, when planning our trip to Ecuador, I found myself in a quandary – I couldn’t find a hotel that precisely met our needs in Quito. The Plaza Grande looked great, but seemed... This hotel which is on CN Traveler's Hot List certainly, belongs there. The service is outstanding. I have stayed at some top hotels and this property is right up there with them. Room- It is beautiful and the bathroom is huge. Note to hotel, the safe needs to be lowered since if you are under 7 feet tall, you cannot... More

This beautiful little hotel has to be one of the most elegant and comfortable secrets in South America. Located in the pretty but small historic area of Quito it is an oasis of calm and refinement with gentle, polite staff who are all obviously and rightly proud of the hotel. We only had one night there in transit to the... More
