Thank you Renato for a wonderful birding trip. Your knowledge about the endemic birds and gracious hospitality were outstanding. I would highly recommend a trip with Renato to anyone and am planning on returning next year. More

We stumbled upon this place by accident and wished we had longer than two nights to spend here! We stayed in one of the rooms that had a wood stove and bathroom and it was cozy and comfy..we slept so well. From bed you can watch the clouds and lighting change as they dance across this unique landscape; so relaxing!... More

My family spent 3 days & 2 nights at the Pululahua Hostal last month. This is not just a hostal, it is an experience. We purchased a package and were picked up at our hotel in Quito by Renatto (owner). My husband went into the crater by car with our luggage. My son & I hiked in. Only a 45... More

This is primarily a review recommending a visit to the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, but while you're there, I recommend staying at the Pululahua Hostal, described at greater length by other reviewers, and mentioned briefly at the end of this review. The first surface I'm referring to is the volcano as seen from the rim, which is gorgeous in itself. I... More

Stayed 3 nights at the Pululahua Hostal this month. Did 2 very nice hikes along the bottom of the crater and along the cloud forest walls. Quiet with beautiful views. We felt pampered by the staff. Hot water bottle for the sheets at night. A fire lit in the fireplace in our room before we headed over there after dinner.... More

We had a group of friends that stayed here for the purpose of birding Ecuador. Our room was a bit chilly, but they provided an extra sleeping bag and a hot water bottle that made it all better. Renato, Paola, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating to our crazy schedule! Breakfast was ready at all hours of the... More

What an amazing place! Hard to pronounce, but easy to love! Everything that Renato and Paula did for our group made us feel right at home. Everything from homemade soup to a crackling fire warming our room at night made this a great place to stay. After long days of exploring the nearby region for birds, it was nice to... More

Pululahua is run by a great team. Everyone was so attentive, from smiling Victor who picked us up in his wonderful yellow jeep and yellow wellies to match, to Renato who advised us where to look for birds and butterflies. Food was great (thank you Paula!) with lots of delicious fruit juices. We had a very relaxing stay here and... More

My husband , 2 teenage sons and I recently returned from a fantastic 2 weeks in Ecuador and the Galapagos. Renato, Paola, Victor and Andy were wonderful hosts for our stay at the Pululahua Hostal. The location is beautiful and quite private with many hiking trails and lovely scenery all around. And sitting in the hot tub is also a... More

We reserved a bird watching tour with Renato (the owner of the Pululuha hostal) as a Bar-Mitzva trip of my son.I can say with certainty that our birding trip I and my son with Renato will never be forgotten. It was an amazing experience with a man who loves his country and fills an important mission to show its beauty... More
