We stayed here for one night in August 2011; we had been staying in the Valparaiso Experience, but they were booked out and we wished to stay in Valparaiso longer so went to Hostal Caracol instead. It is also in Bellavista, within short walking distance to many places to buy meals or simple groceries. Breakfast is included and includes cereal,... More

The dorm is big, 6 beds, with an ensuite but there is no ventilation in the bathroom so it´s quite musty and dingy in there. There are big lockers which is a good plus point, each bed has a locker assigned to it. The communal areas are what makes it I think. Nice big lounge with a tv except this... More

Cute hostal in Valparaiso - loved the patio. Wifi in all rooms and they stored our luggage for an entire day without any problems. Friendly staff but not all that knowledgeable when it comes to local tours. Would recommend More

Surprisingly spacious and clean. Great facilities like the patio, kitchen and lounge room with wifi access. Nice place to meet fellow travelers. Awesome staff, yummy KIWI JAM at breakfast (which is included). It's quite a walk up, however once you get there it's totally worth it. More

Clean and comfortable simplicity with the best bed, pillows, linen I have slept on for at least 2 to 3 months. Nicely located for the tourist attractions and a short walk to Pablo Neruda´s house. Hotel staff and especially Pablo desreve a mention for their willingness to help with guest arrangements A deserved Lonely Planet "Our Pick" More

beautiful located up in the hills with a nice little backyard, a very clean kitchen with a very good and healthy breakfast, very cosy living room with fire place and a huge dorm. Small hotel with max. 15 guests, what I enjoyed. The bathroom has some issues....but is ok! More

Four of us travelled to Valparaiso and stayed here. It was great. The staff is excellent, it was really clean, and the main living areas, including the living room, kitchen, and patio are truly beautiful. We've stayed in plenty of hostals all over the globe and this one is honestly in our top three. More

This hostal is one of Lonely Planets top picks, and for us, kinda lived up to expectations. When we arrived we were met by a very friendly host, who spoke great English and showed us around the place. The lounge area is very nice, with cofy sofas, a tv and a big wood burner for the colder nights. There’s an... More

this is an awesome place in Valparaiso. The rooms are nice and comfortable, clean and airy. The staff are super nice and friendly The place is like quite cheap. The breakfast is decent. The facilities and the common area are beautiful. On the downside, you have to climb up a bit to get to this place from the main part... More

Hostal Caracol is a small hostel in good walking distance of everything Valparaiso has to offer. The staff are friendly and the common areas inviting – plenty of color and good design sense help make you feel at home here. The rooms themselves at Hostal Caracol are small but perfectly adequate and after a long journey from the US, it... More
