We stayed here as we transited Santiago to and from Easter Island and then to leave for the Lakes area. CasAltura is centrally located and easy to get from everywhere in the city. There are good choices for food, museums and clubbing nearby. Our rooms were spartan, but confortable. The price was right. Depending on the location, it could be quite... More

It is clear why Casaltura calls itself a boutique hostel. It oozes old world charm, provides all the usual hostel services & has a central, if somewhat gritty location. The public area were spacious & inviting with ornately decorated high ceilings & comfy furniture. We had double room with private bath & while it was small, it was sunny, cheerful,... More

Booked in for two nights and had probably the worst and best experience of our holiday. The worst being pick pocketed on the Santiago metro, the best meeting such great diverse group of travellers at this very friendly hostel. This attractive turn of the century hostel is on a busy road in a very good location. Despite our room facing... More

First and foremost, casAltura is perfectly situated in a very central part of town, within walking distance to all the major sites in the city and just a few blocks away from a metro station if you're travelling outside of the downtown core. Our room was clean, spacious and equipped with basic amenities. We felt very comfortable and safe at... More

Location of this hostel is the best thing, 2 blocks from the Central Mkt and you can walk practically to all the major sites from here. the down side is that the floor squeeks (at least the 3rd flood where all the single rooms are) and I could hear the person next door or in the hallway when they walk.... I found this hosteria to be dour and really nothing special for the price. The front-desk people were glued to their computers and the Internet, low energy, and showed little interest in the guests, The place is located close to the center but on an entirely uncharming and very busy street. On the plus side, it has a nice open-air... More

Nice hostel with friendly staff (a misunderstanding on the time I should have left my room free was friendly solved). Nevertheless the single room (shared bath) I had was really very small that I couldn't almost open my big suitcase, but I could see that other rooms were a bit larger. Not very big choice at breakfast.

This is the prettiest little boutique hotel with stained glass, and beautifully crafted wood. Big comfy beds, hot water, and breakfast. The Wi-fi is great! The ceilings are high and the decorations are simple, but nice. The circular staircase in the front is matched by the one in the rear (and both lead to a rooftop terrace). The hotel is... More

This has to be the best hostel in Santiago. It is located right in centre just a few blocks from the main plaza. The staff are wonderful. They are extremely helpful and go out of their way to ensure you are happy with your stay. My room had a big single bed and hotel quality sheets and duvets. There is... More
