We found this place through an old copy of a Lonely Planet south America and were extremely pleasantly surprised. Very helpful people, very layed-back attitude and if you decide to enjoy the evenin meal at the hostel, be prepared for a good, wholesome meal and an evening of conversation with German, Spanish, English and Swiss-German speaking guests and hosts.

The rooms were clean with nice bathrooms, the breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful and friendly. We did not had a reservation and they did everything to give us a nice room. We really enjoyed our stay at el patio suizo.

El Patio Suiza is a great choice for backpackers as well as families visiting Santiago. It's located in a charming, up & coming neighborhood, and the attentive staff caters to Spanish, English, and German speakers. The rooms are very comfortable and the hearty Swiss-style breakfast is a rarity in South America!
