On our third trip to SG, we booked in this hotel as Hotel 81 Orchid was fully booked already. Surprisingly, the rooms here are bigger and cleaner though the smell of cigarette smoke is still noticeable. The wifi in the room is not functioning well so we ended up with no wifi the 2 nights we stayed there. Room is... More

Stayed at this hotel for 5 days and found it to be very basic but good value for money. Wireless internet access was free but frustratingly slow. Aljuniet MRT is 15 minutes walk away. However, most of the buses that stop just outside the MRT station run along Geylang Road. To avoid a hot walk just take a bus and... More

Not the most pleasant hotel but for the price, but it meets expectations. Plastic coverings on bed, no shower curtain, small room. Cleanliness questionable but tolerable. Not too far from metro.

Compared with the other Hotel 81s around Geylang this may be the best, but only marginally. The rooms are a little bigger, but maybe by a half meter. I do like the big windows. Be aware that this hotel is in the middle of a red light district. That said, it is a great location to get into CDB (central... More

Stayed here 4 nights. Booked for $60US/night on agoda.com. Asked for a quiet room, they gave me one on top floor in the back. Big window, lots of natural light. Rooms are clean and modern but small. Flat screen TV too small and internet frustratingly slow (but free). Lots of hookers hanging around outside, but they are polite and the... More

I stay here every time I go to Singapore and I'm paying the bill. Stayed at other budget hotels in Singapore and all have some things in common. For me, this is the best one. If a room isn't suitable they'll find a new one for you. 12 minute walk to the Aljunied MRT station. If you want better, you... More

First room I checked into had a smell like something had died in it. Not exaggerating here, it almost made me gag. I asked to move rooms. The second room was the same layout as the first - very small, no shower curtain, a postage stamp sized TV. The bed was rock hard (and I'm used to a firm mattress).... More

I stayed here as a transit stop and it was ok. I do not mind being in Geylang and if you understand it's a red light area and can live with it, why not? The good thing about Geylang, if you are a foodie, is the massing number of restaurants in the area service excellent local foods. Everything is available,... More

Hotel 81 is a hotel chain in Singapore. Many of their hotels were obviously purchased from other owners and remodeled. The rooms are actually quite clean and modern. we spent one night in the Hotel 81 Princess in Geyland which is in the middle of the red light district. Many hotels in this and other areas rent by the hour.... More
