We stayed two nights during a nine day tour of Tibet. True the mattresses were somewhat lacking in luxurious comfort, but the moment we mentioned we were not comfortable a phone call was made and our mattresses were changed. We were fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of Mr. V. T. Gurung, who spoke not only English (very well, I... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of our 3 day leg in Lhasa towards the end of December. To be fair, we cannot compare as we have not the opportunity to stay in other hotels in Lhasa. The entrace and lobby was grand but it felt very cold (temperature wise) and dark-ish in the lobby and obviously there was... More

We love the lobby, it's very unique design full with tibetan items and sculptures. We got 2 rooms, one standard and one suite. The suite is quite big and has modern bathroom with all amenities available. The standard room is quite ok for night sleep. Breakfast is just enough to get you started in the morning, The bed is hard,... More

When I first came to this hotel, I was very disappointed. The lobby is pretty (although like every other Chinese hotel, smelled of tobacco), but the rooms were just okay. The bed was Chinese hard and all the fixtures seemed dated. But we stayed here for four nights and the place grew more comfortable with time. I have to agree... More

The reception areas of the hotel are very grandiose but thats about as far as it goes. The rooms are ok and clean enough but the towels were an absolute disgrace.Discoloured, thin and very tired-suprising as the bed linen was fine. The breakfast area was not very pleasant, with poor quality offerings in not very nice surroundings.I've no idea what other hotels are like... We should have been tipped off by the magazine with the photo of the owner of the hotel with his cigarette on the cover that were everywhere in great numbers, and the only magazine in evidence. As a museum, the Brahmaputra is interesting, but as a hotel it is over priced for its poor quality. The guest rooms are small,... More

The Brahmaputra Grand is more than just a hotel. It has a spectacular display of artefacts, and museum pieces, all displayed very well all over the hotel. The lobby and the hotel corridors especially are beautiful. Browsing around in the hotel is a perfect way to unwind. Quite an unusual experience. And not one that you would expect in Tibet.

This is a nice hotel with comparatively comfortable rooms, beds and a decent breakfast buffet. It is in a quiet area and although the hotel looks imposing and impersonal the staff are friendly and try to be helpful. Few speak English. The major advantage, though, is the excellent exhibit of cultural artifacts, Buddhist sculptures and prayer wheels and some amazing... More

The Brahmaputra is 4-5 star and the best in Tibet without doubt. It is partly a museum with every available space to show Tibetan art-work and artifacts very tastefully indeed. Yes, the exterior is a bit unexciting though quite dignified but wow! the interior is really something .You are met by a group in full Tibetan regalia singing and playing... More
