The morning after our first night in The hotel was forecast at two degrees Celsius, so we were a bit concerned that the heating cycle of the air conditioning wasn't working. We found an extra blanket, so we figured it wouldn't be too bad. According to the front desk it was only pour side of the hotel in which the... More

Just got back from a trip to Tibet and stayed at the Tibet Hotel while in Lhasa. It was our favorite hotel of our entire tour to both China and Tibet. It was definitely the staff that set this hotel above the others but the rooms were quite comfortable and modern as well. The rooms appear to have been renovated... More

This hotel is pleasant both inside and out, but it is cold and drafty. Restaurant does not operate when it says it does, and the food is terrible. Location is not good. This place is best avoided.

Westerner's should find this hotel pleasantly accommodating. Not much to look at from the front (in fact several structures appear to be abandoned completely); however, a short jaunt around to the back reveals the main entrance to the "VIP" building. The rooms were very clean, well equipped, and quite comfortable. Views of Lhasa from the 6th floor were nice, mornings... More

Our tour group stayed here for 4 nights towards the end of July 2008. The bedroom was OK, but the hotel had clearly suffered several weeks/months of closure before we got there. Two or three of the floors were still closed off. The “VIP Building” (Building Number 6), where western tourists stay, is at the rear of the compound next... More

Biggish hotel, couple of buildings. Refurbished rooms are nice, clean and good bathrooms. Breakfast okay and starts early. Bit out of town but taxis are very cheap and plentiful. Free broadband in newer rooms.

This hotel doesn’t look good on the outside, but inside and especially in the room, it is a fine, clean hotel. The first night the air conditioning worked, the other two nights it did not and it didn’t for my traveling companions. The breakfast was not very good, but get a little something in your stomach and then go out... More

The Tibet Hotel was a good mix of local and western tastes. Even though we visited in November, the city had wonderful sites, but please get out of the city to experience the real flavor of this once proud and independent country. The hotel has three levels of lodging and you must be sure not to agree to the sub... More

My wife and l spent five nights at this Hotel as part of a Tibet Tour. After reading these forums l approached our stay with a little trepidation, but not much expectation. Sadly, that turned about to be appropiate. Many travel documents rate this hotel as four star, this is totally inappropiate, and it should be rated as at best... More

Tibet Hotel seems to have received very negative reviews. However -- one must be realistic and take some of the criticism with a grain of salt. First the location -- it is located several kilometres from the centre of Lhasa. However, a taxi to anywhere in Lhasa is a fixed rate of 10 yuan -- and there are lots of... More
