We stayed here for 3 nights while touring Tibet and all of our friends loved the place. The staff was great; the location is perfect, and our room for 3 people was huge by Chinese standards. Free wifi and a gorgeous courtyard were icing on the cake. It truly felt Tibetan.

We moved to the Kyichu Hotel down the street because the breakfast was not edible, our guide had to ask that our room be made up because it was not touched at 2:30pm, it was a dark room with a cold cement floor, and we had to notify staff in order to get hot water. It is nice to see... More

This boutique hotel oozes charm and atmosphere, which, considering its heritage, is no surprise. The stairs are steep, as they are in all traditional Tibetan homes and monasteries so it is not suitable for more frail travelers or small children. The traditional architecture has been maintained but coordinated with modern bathroom features and excellent heating. It is pricey by comparison... More

After travelling by train from Shanghai to Lhasa, we were staying in Yabshi Phunkhang Heritage Hotel which is the family home of the 11th Dalai Lama's family. During the first night we were put into 2 rooms on the groundfloor in the back yard. The rooms were not too clean, rather small (12 sqm) and loud, due to adjacent neighbours... More

We recently stayed at this heritage hotel for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is fantastic, footsteps away from Barkhor market and the dining and shopping that can be found there. It really is the best area of Lhasa to stay in. As you would probably already know, the hotel itself was built for the 11th Dalai Lama's family.... More

The Yabshi (meaning parents) Hotel is a charming traditional hotel in the heart of old Lhasa. Formerly the home to the 11th Dali Lama's parents this hotel is on the edge of the Barkhor Market and along the clockwise pilgrimage routes to the Jokhung Temple (647 A.D.) You can observe the Buddist faithful make their trek either walking and meditating... More

A lovely old building very well restored with modern amenties. All good except one point. A fine layer of dust appears stuck to the floor. This will come off when rubbing with the finger, but wont come off with a normal mopping. Free wifi and very helpful staff in great location. Overall, best place to stay in Lhasa I would... More

The hotel is a renovated palace that was originally built for the parents of the 11th Dalai Lama in 1838. It is in a great location, a short walk from the Jokhang and Barkhor. The rooms are excellent, the personal service provided by Tashi and his wife Tsetan was great. There is delicious Illy coffee, internet access, and a shop... More

The beauty, the food, the exceptional location, the courteous, accommodating and exceptionally helpful staff - there was nothing to tarnish our stay in the 11th Dalai Lama's family residence. It served as a wonderful introduction to an amazing country. All I can say is thank you.

This hotel was the home of the 11th Dalai Lama's family and was recently restored. I had the suite which was gigantic and incredibly beautiful tibetan style with a modern bathroom. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. I had altitude sickness and they took care of me!! I stayed a full week because it was so wonderful. This is... More
