We stayed for 4 nights and had no complaints of the temperature in the room. We had reserved one queen bed and received a twin. We did not have a "view" room, but we could get lovely pic by opening up the screen and getting a very good shot of the Potala palace. Breakfast was good- made to order eggs... More

Like the other reviews, this is a mixed bag. The view from our room was fantastic - a straight shot of the Portola Palace. The room was a little worn, but the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. The problem was the room, and the hotel, were freezing. They brought us a funky heater which helped, but we... More

I was recently in Lhasa on holiday, and stayed at the Xin Ding Hotel for 3 nights. The location was good, and I think the facilities were adequate, but the service was appalling. I initially thought my headaches and nausea were due to the altitude, but later realised it was because of lack of ventilation - I felt a lot... More

Location was great, but were sadly let down by the service. We stayed 3 nights but didn't get a single night's sleep. Room temp fixed at 26C but staff would change rooms for us. Instead, they told us that the thermostat was not accurate, and the temp was lower than displayed. Room not made, and when they finally did, bathroom... More

Stayed 6 nights and didn't have one good nights sleep - room way too hot, air con rooms but not individually controlled. The rooms with a view were cooler, but management wouldn't move us. Very tiny amount of english spoken & ended up using google translate to communicate. Breakfast not that great either & had to keep asking for things... More

I found the Xin Ding Hotel very convenient for the Potala Palace and shopping. The view is spectacular at night of the Potala Palace and the morninbg mist adds to the view.Rooms on the 4, 5, 6 floors is a must. The staff was friendly and the breakfast buffet was good with both Chinese and Western cusine. The business office offered... More

For a place as remote as Lhasa, you wouldn't expect a top-notch hotel, but the Xin Ding is up to the standards of the better hotels in other China cities. Food was good, breakfast was comprehensive, hotel was very attractive, and the views of the Potala Palace are spectacular, especially when it is lit up at night--an amazing sight. The... More

Location is everything, and the Xin Ding Hotel has it. We photographers swooned over the views of the lighted Potala Palace with a backdrop of the Himalayas from the 4th-5th floor rooms of the hotel. Aside from the views, the hotel has perfectly fine rooms, an attractive dining area (although the food is not up to the standard of many... More

A nice hotel, though it is one of the bigger hotels in Lhasa and a bit impersonal and lacking in character. Its focus seems to be on catering for large groups rather than independent travellers. Had a nice night time view of Potala Palace from our room. You will only get this view from certain rooms, so if you want... More

Our tour group was told not to expect the quality of hotels in Lhasa to match those of other parts of China. I can truly say that the hotel was very good and I would recommend it to any one who visits Lhasa. The room and the bathroom were clean, quite large, and the amenities were adequate. The view of...
