as a hostel, it's great! clean room, clean bathroom, free wifi, open areas , great. as a hotel, it's cheap, and the's what i look for, since it's clean and staff is nice. the location is just great, right in the middle of one of the still lived hu tong, walking distance from tian an men square, great, i would... Beijing in November is very cold and there was no heating in hotel. the staff just shrugged. The room is OK but the beds are very uncomfortable. The hotel is old and a bit grubby but the room was cleaned each day. There is free internet in the lobby and laundry room is cheap. The location is interesting though a... More

We stayed in the dorm here way back in October 2010. The rooms were okay, nothing special. As they are in the basement they are a bit dark. The breakfast was very poor. Everything was pre-cooked and the staff were indifferent whenever you asked them anything. Bathrooms and kitchen were poor but the location was fantastic.

I have always loved Asia, asian culture and history, so I was very happy, when my boyfriend invited me to stay in Beijing for a week. We stayed in this hostel in september 2011. I found it via internet and booked it straight per the web site of this hostel. I wasnt concerned about few bad reviews, cause the most... More

I have never stayed in such a disgusting, filthy lodging in my entire life. This is the kind of place I'd imagine Amy Winehouse going to die. Our first room made the Bates Motel look like an upgrade. It started with the hall on the second floor. It reeks of urine. Gag reflex inducing stench from the public restroom on... More

Location good in the hutong. Housekeeping terrible. We stayed for 5 days and bedsheets were never changed. It was a complete mess under the bed. Even called housekeeping to show them but it stayed as it was. Cleanliness of bathroom was just ok. The shower leaked and so the bathroom was always wet. Staff unfriendly. Breakfast western 38rmb. Chinese breakfast... More

the Far East hotel is actually a hotel and hostel all in the one building. We stayed in the hostel, although we were actually given a standard hotel room. Our stay here was very comfortable, and great value for money. The hotel/hostel is very well equipped - a cheap self service laundry, tour booking desk, wifi, a small shop, and... More

The rooms are bit jaded and tatty typical of a 2.5 star hotel, but this doesn't take away from the convenience to everywhere. I really enjoyed the location and couldn't believe how quiet this area was. I could walk to main attractions. Staff spoke little English but could call on someone who did if necessary. Booked Great Wall tour from... More

I spent five nights in a (Standard Room A). Overall, the price, location and staff's English capabilities provide a value for budget travel - if you can stomach a Western motel, you'll manage here.It is a motel, so expect the amenities to be no-frills (just like the staff), but there was A/C & heat, warm water, a hot water kettle,... Very good location (20 min walk/10 min rickshaw from Tiananmen place), nice area (in a huotong) Confortable rooms, nice prices. Very practical : a (good) travel agency is inside the hotel. Catherine, Paris - France (family with 3 children, including a 10 months baby)
