We've stayed at Kolping Guesthouse in the past, and we were looking forward to a return visit. The property is quite serene and peaceful. The staff could not be nicer and we enjoyed them very much. The little gathering place in the back courtyard is a wonderful place to relax and decompress from the day. We had dinner several times during our 4 night stay and each time the food was delicious. However. The rooms are getting worn and in need of a deep cleaning and repairs. We stayed in room #1(and our friends were in rooms 2 & 3). The shower head in our room was dreadful. The spray would shoot out in several various directions, rather than down, so it was difficult to rinse body and hair as the water went every which way. The hot water had no cold water moderation, so it was scalding hot only. We resorted to using a bucket of cold water at our feet in the shower, and alternately splashing cold water on ourselves in order to endure the hot. The staff turned the water off completely at night, so if we got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet, we could not flush. I had some tummy issues so the situation was not pleasant by morning. Twice we went to the staff at 7:30am and asked to turn the water on so we could get ready for the day - and breakfast was at 8am. Not much time to get ready. After a long, hot, dusty, dirty day spent doing humanitarian work in the Mathare slum, we returned to Kolping to find there was NO water. The tank was empty and the water truck had not arrived yet. Once it did arrive, the pressure was insufficient to flush our toilet or take a shower in our room. In frustration I asked Phyllis if we could shower in another room ( where the pressure was enough to run the shower) and we did so. Bottom line, although we love the people and ambience of Kolping, we will look for another guesthouse next time we are in Nairobi. With 5 people in our group, letting the water tank run dry was difficult, and never knowing if the toilet would flush was hard. Never being able to take a decent shower was rough. We didn't expect luxury- like I mentioned, we've stayed there before- but not having basic necessities was more than we want to deal with. …

This simple guest house would serve those in mission, with a Church context or a low budget. There is a good Italian restaurant on the complex that serves alcohol, and a cafe that serves breakfast. Room is clean, but ask for daily cleaning, water and supplies, towels. Reception covered all night and taxi availible.

I left my money belt behind in my room, only to notice it missing not long after leaving. The hotel was contacted immediately. It seemed to take awhile before the room was checked or at least the staff was contacted. My money belt was not found. Dogs barking all night.

We were in town for a conference and stayed at this guesthouse. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were also the ONLY guests here the whole time (and it seems there weren't any recently either). So, there was quite a delay before anyone opens the gate every time. Also, the door nearest the room was often kept locked which made it somewhat difficult to enter and exit the building. On Sunday morning they had a church group here, so we were required to have our breakfast very early in the morning and because the exit door near the room was locked, we actually had to disturb the church service in the main room and squeeze through. Definitely a bit awkward. The beds in the room were fairly comfortable (though not the best) and also a desk with TV and plenty of closet space. The bathroom wasn't connected to the guestroom, which was OK since we were the only guests there. However, it was in slightly worn condition and really probably should be fixed up a bit. Soap and towels are provided but not shampoo. There was no baby bed, but we brought our own. There was a main room with a big flat-screen TV and quite a few satellite channels, some couches, board games, books, and a decent place to relax. Depending on who's available to cook food, it can either be quite good or quite bland, but adequate. Overall, it's not the place I'd choose given the price, but it's a fair place to stay.…

Schade, also nie wieder Kolping. …

Garten vorhanden. Günstige Lage für David Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary.
