Cheap and basic but the manager, his welcome and his excellent advice make it a pleasure to stay here. And you're not in 'tourist' Luxor, though the temple is still nearby.

Brilliant breakfast, friendly staff, clean, cheerful and everything worked. Shame there weren't many other travellers around though.

Stayed three nights in this generally good hostel. Management and staff are very friendly! Rooms are average at best, but the rooftop restaurant is nice. Breakfast is served from 7.30 and consisted of fuul, falafel, tomatoes, bread and, a fried egg and coffee (better than your average egyptian hostel breakfast).
The tour I took was a slight deception (the guide...

Hi
I went to this hotel as suggested by Lonely Planet... my guide was printed in 2006 so I expected changes in prices, anyway.
However, when I arrived, I was surprised by the price but as it was late in the evening I checked in anyway. That evening I went out and checked other hotels nearby, like Princess which was...

The hotel has basic rooms and no furniture. The beds are comfy and clean. However the bathroom was very reasonable with enough space to shower and plenty hot water. We had two rooms next to the reception area but it was not very loud during the night. For the price this hotel was adequate. We also had our laundry done...

Happy Land is a very clean and friendly hotel catering for backpackers. At these prices you can do a lot worse in Luxor (I should know as I have!). Rooms are basic but clean with working AC and decent showers. The best thing as others have mentioned is the rooftop restaurant, the breakfast is the best I ate in Egypt....

Another disappointed traveler: I arrived at Happyland expecting comfort and hospitality after hearing good reviews from travelers and Lonely Planet. The reality, however, is different. Happyland does not stand up to its reputation. The biggest problem we had were with the staff. On our first night in the hotel, we found that our AC was not functioning correctly (room 112)....

I am rather amazed that this hotel had several positive reviews. There were some reasonable things about it....the price and some of the staff, but the owner was loud, angry and aggressive! The tour to the Valley of the Kings was with a great guide (Issac), but the rest of the tours or transportation that was organized were not very...

Other than our AC which was a bit dodgy Happy land was great! They organized a few things for us at a good price and the staff were very helpful. By far the best breakfast in Egypt! Ultra clean rooms in a quiet location about 5 min walk from luxor temple.
Would stay again if i was in that part...
