We booked three nights at this superb Nubian guesthouse on the west side of the Nile during the Easter period and we were absolutely delighted. We had a simple but spotlessly clean twin room with air-conditioning and sink and access to two shared bathrooms with great showers. There was a big room with ping-pong table for those who like to... My wife and I had the good fortune of staying here albeit only for 2 days & 1 night. We had a lovely room on the ground floor with entry off the garden. The room was spacious, the bed very comfy (and in March, not very hot yet). The washroom was just outside our door. We asked the Guesthouse to... More

We would just like to say Abdel is a great host. He treats you with class. The staff is great, friendly, and authentic to the Nubian culture. This was our favorite place in Egypt and we will be back. I suggest eating dinner, and breakfast there. Take a Nile cruise at sunset, let them set it up. Abdel, thank younger... More

My girlfriends found this place as the pick of the 2008 lonely planet. It is possible that the place was okay in 2008 but now, the room was terrible and the owner is an overbearing and intolerable man. The place is also not very convenient. If you want to be hassled while you're eating and relaxing by an insincere and... More

My wife and I stayed one night in Aswan towards the end of October 2011. I had visited Aswan a couple of times before and knew I wanted to stay on the west bank on the edge of the desert so this was a great find. Our host, Abdel, was extremely attentive and organised boat and camel trips for us... More

First of all Bet el Kerem is not meant for everyone. If you are looking for a place to just relax at the hotel there are probably better places to stay. That being said, if you are looking for an educational and interesting place, this is one of the top places I've stayed. The location is a bit out of... More

So what was wrong? On the plus side, the food was excellent (delicious buffet dinner), free water and soft drinks) and quiet. But our room was vastly overpriced at 45 E: it was dark (the only window opened to a wall), beds were exceptionally hard, the mosquito netting was dysfunctional (torn and too small), and while we had asked for... To be honest, we are rather dissapointed about this review; for several reasons. So we really feel the need to react. The guests stayed in one of our best rooms; people always like this room because it is quiet, large and cool. The private toilet is directly next to the room. We really invested in the quality of the matrasses... More

We spent 8 days in the wonderful BetelKarem 917 t/m 24 november 2011). From the first moment we felt at home: Dutch Quality with African hospitality. Abdel and his crew made us feel great. Every day we learned more about the Nubian culture. Breakfast and dinner were splendid. The view from the balcony over de desert and the tomb of... More

This was a beautiful guest-house on the West bank of Aswan - wonderful rustic atmosphere, lovely and spacious room and a gorgeous roof terrace with the most amazing view of the desert, tombs of the nobles and the Nile. The owner Abdel makes you feel immediately at home - the fridge is always full of cool water, juice and snacks... More

From the moment you enter the garden of this wonderful place, you instantly feel relaxed and at home. As our host Abdel explained, 'Bet El Kerem' translates as 'house of hospitality' which is exactly what Abdel has achieved here and you are at once in your very own 'home from home'. Nothing is too much trouble for Abdel, who he... More
