On arrival the foyer is quite cavernous with a lot of people wandering around. But check in was friendly and efficient. The inital impression of the room was good until you looked into the bathroom which was tired and mouldy. The pool bar while inviting from a distance was alive with flies and including myself everybody was covering their glasses....

OK and safe, but completely overpriced. Not sure what it is about Port Moresby but things are hugely expensive. I heard from locals it was because of the significant ex-pat (Australian) community and the dragging up effect they have on prices.

Rooms are very old, bathrooms revolting with mold and dust everywhere. Reception staff very friendly and restaurant staff excellent. Security seems to be very good. Good facilities and good food. Facilities are a bit tired however a refurbishment program is underway. The gardens are nice.
If you are being picked up from the domestic airport, take your mobile as the courtesy phone is AWOL.
The hotel is expensive (even by Moresby standards). Better value elsewhere.

The facilities are old and dirty. Service is terrible even though I'm their vip member. Had to beg to be upgraded and they lied saying its full. They eneded up giving me a room with broken air conditioning and then had me move around and look at all the empty rooms till I found a decent one for the price...

Summary:
Port Moresby Holiday Inn is close to the airport so is handy if you have an overnight transit stop (as was the case for me). It has good rooms and nice grounds. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The restaurant and bar are fine. Priority Club status is recognised.
