The first impression couldn't be better. The decoration and the architecture are beautiful. The spot amazing. What spoiled our stay was the staff. They were arrogant, never offered any help and I think that they believed that they were always doing us a favor. I think it's a managing problem, more about the owner of the hotel. The simple people who... more

My wife and I stayed at the Serena in Nov, 2007. We had a lovelly stay. The room had a marvelous ocean view. It had lots of room, and the toilet was very confortable. The marvelous swimming pool is a great place to drink a clericó and spend time with your loved one. more

A lovely location on the beach but I agree with the last reveiwer that the hotel lets itself down in some major areas. In particular the staff are too casual - we were never offered anything (such a drink by the pool or menus for lunch etc.) Odd that they don't seem to want to upsell things to their guests.... more

The Serena Hotel could be amazing but it stops incredibly short of reaching its potential and that’s a real shame. The beach location and outdoor areas are tops. The beach beds are a great amenity and we found the staff to be helpful and provide us with chairs and towels efficiently and with a smile. The pool is gorgeous, but... more

We were very happy that we chose this hotel as we found out that it was the only one in Punta with direct access to the beach. Rooms very nice. We just did not understand why a twin room facing the street was more expensive that a double with a partial sea view. The beach and pool area are just... more

After testing and trying several hotels in Punta del Este, we found the SERENA Hotel. Good location (away from the huzzle and buzzle but still close to everything allowing the perfect privacy and relaxation). The rooms are very nice, comfortable and with amazing views. The beach and pool area the the highlight of this hotel. An amazing black mirrow pool... more

We stayed at Serena hotel in beginning Feb,2007 for 5 nights. We came during the week and the hotel was still pretty empty, which we loved (gets packed on weekends) . We recieved royal treatment on the beach and pool service and the included breakfast was delicious. You have to try a pitcher of White Sangria at the pool. The... more

Small, boutique hotel (30 rooms) on the west side of Punta del Este. About 5 minutes into Punta, but well worth it. Punta's beaches can be rocky or nonexistent. Serena is directly on the beach, the only hotel we saw in Punta that was so. The beach in front of the hotel is well-maintainerd with plenty of lounge chairs for... more

Spent two days at the Serena this month. The property itself is very pretty - sort of a zen meets Africa decor that is located directly on the beach, allowing for very picturesque alfresco dining (which was very tasty). Very pretty world music pumping throughout the lobby and beach area, pretty floral arrangements placed throughout. The hotel had the great... more

Stayed there for 2 nights ($300 per night) in mid February. We liked the design and chilling at the pool or on the beach is very good. "All" other things are not good: the location is far away from Punta del Este; it's directly on the the main road and the hotel is not being well maintained. Staff is uninterested,... more
