Had a good stay at this hostel - rooms were clean and comfortable. The toilets on each floor were just glorified cabins, but they were clean and in working order. Likewise for the shower room - clean, hot water - no complaints! Fantastic location - in the modern Souq Saroujah with its juice bars and cafes, good place for meeting... More

Being an optimist I presumed that the reviews about their booking system wouldn't be a problem for us. How wrong I was...arrived on Monday for 2 nights and our booking was in for Tuesday for 1 night. Thankfully they had another room and while it was not the same type as the room we had reserved it was fine. Staff,... More

This place used to be great, amazing wonderful and cheap. Now its dirty run down and has not been ammended in 15 years. Sadly the staff are atrocious. They are incredibly rude on a personal level. Lazy and unpleasant. The common toilets are quite vile. At $2 this place would be a deal. At $30 for a room with no... More

I booked a single room by phone but had to stay in a dorm the first night, which I didn't like because I'm 70, go to bed early, and it was very hot. Thereafter, I stayed in two different single rooms, which had fans. They are basic, without water, but there are sinks and toilets on each floor, frequently cleaned,... More

Good points for this hostel: the rooms were spacious and had fans; the beds were comfortable; a decent free breakfast is provided; some of the staff are lovely. Bad points: the shared facilities are rank. I would only recommend staying here if you got a private room. The toilets (2 for the whole hostel on different floors, only one has... More

The hotel in Hotel Al-Haramain is something of a misnomer since the place is more like a youth hostel. But the place is an excellent option for budget travelers. The hotel is a coverted old Damascene house with a lot of character. A basic breakfast is included in the room price. The rooms are spartan as one would expect in... More

Al-Haramain was one of the nicer hotels we stayed in during a trip of 10 days and about 9 different hostels. First, their bathroom was one of the cleanest I saw during my entire trip, which was a huge plus. The hotel itself is a converted house (mansion?) and so our room was right off the inner courtyard and had... More

Since 13 years I stay in this hotel twice a year, no doubt, it is the best choice in Damascus. Clean rooms, helpful staff, good prices.
