I stayed in the Shahbandar Hotel in April 2011 and had a great experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and very well-located in the Christian quarter of the Old City. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and breakfast was magnificent. A slight downside was that the hotel can get a bit noisy when guests are having breakfast, but it... More

I contacted the hotel directly and the Manager was very polite and helpful, and offered me a good rate for what I think was the best suite there. There were three of us and we had three double beds - there was a connecting room to the main one which also has a sitting area. Our suite - the Al-Shahbandar,... More

We stayed here for one night and had a fantastic time. The staff was very friendly and our room overlooking the courtyard was quiet and nicely decorated. It's very well located just in the heart of the old city surrounded by lively cafes and shops (best part of the old city) and is also very close to our favourite restaurant... More

Our one night stay here was a Christmas present and was a break from a few weeks of hostels, turning it into a real treat. The service was incredible (despite our travel-worn appearences) and we were upgraded to a suite which was uber-luxurious. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and really well located (although we had similar issues with taxis as... More

I'm 2 months late in sending this review through. I booked the hotel via laterooms.com @ $100 per night and received instant confirmation. I received an email from the hotel the following day informing me the room I booked was not available but could offer me ' .. a very nice room at a higher rate '. I stood my... More

Unfortunately we only stayed one night, because the Beit Rose was overbooked and we had booked there. In retrospect we would have preferred to stay at the Shahbandar. Better rooms and nicer house in general. Location is perfect!

I stayed here for the best part of a week in November 2010. It's very well located (though hard to find - taxi drivers can't get to it easily, be warned!) in the Christian quarter of the Old Town. A beautiful conversion of an old Damascus house. The rooms (I stayed in two, both were very well set up) are... More

We stayed here 2 nights during a recent tour of Syria, and we really enjoyed it. While our room was small, is was decorated in what we took to be Syrian style, and it was quite charming. There are numerous steps, which is typical for the palaces which have been converted into hotels. We found the staff very willing and... More
