We have walked by this hidden gem many times. Who knew what was behind the gates...a building housing a hostel and a restaurant that has the best apple strudel outside of Austria. The cappuchino was pretty good as well! After relaxing and eating on a patio, surrounded by flowering trees, we climbed to the roof and enjoyed a view of... More

The Austrian Hospice is in a great location in the Muslim Quarter. It is a beautiful big old building with a great garden to sit in. It is clean and comfortable and serves the best Apple Strudel I ever tasted, The cost of living in the dormitory is an exceptional value - $32/night if you don't mind lots of roommates,... More

We just visited this Austrian Hospice on the Via Delorosa in the old city. We did not stay but talked to others who have stayed and recommended it for its cleanliness and location. We went there for the great view from the roof over the city and for the Austrian cafe. At the cafe you can get excellent coffee and... More

This hotel is a great place to stay. It was nice and clean, but the location cannot be beat. I had a single room, and paid under 100 dollars for the night. It was simple, but all I needed. The room was quite and clean. The breakfast was truly terrible, but there is so much great food around Jerusalem for... More

A clean simple place. It's not an hotel, so it is to be avoided if you can't live without TV and room service. It has ample rooms, spartan bathrooms but it fits extremely well in the city's atmosphere. From the terrace you have one of the best views of the city : watching Jerusalem waking up at sunrise is the... More

I spent almost a week here while I was traveling solo in Israel, staying in the female dorms. The location is great (I loved the Muslim quarter and spent most of my time in this neighborhood), the building itself is beautiful, the dorms and bathrooms were immaculate, and bed linens and a towel were included. The included breakfast is simple... More

If you plan to stay in the Old City there can be few better places to stay. (I have previously stayed at the Hashimi and Knights Palace.) Great location where the Muslim, Christian and Jewish quarters cross, five minutes’ walk from Damascus Gate (Arab bus station, taxis, Jerusalem Light Railway stop) and some classic old city eateries. Wonderful view from... More

The Austrian Hospice is perfectly located in the heart of the old city and directly off the Via Dolorosa. The room is very sparten but it is clean and has great high ceilings. Showers are tiny but again, very clean. I should mention that there are a ton of steps to go up to get inside the building so I... More

Recently we stayed in the Hospice, and while the accommodations are spartan, this place is amazingly beautiful and Authentic. Comfortable beds, large and very clean rooms, with great feather blankets. Very Affordable and in the middle of the old city. Looking down at the street we saw a mix of Arab Souk sellers, Ultra Religious Jews, Israeli Soldiers, and tourists... More
