My boyfriend and I wanted to find a comfortable, clean, authentic place to stay that was convenient to most of the best sites in Istanbul without paying the exorbitant prices we were seeing very commonly online. Before arriving, we booked the Marmara Guesthouse hoping that the reasonable price wouldn't mean we were staying somewhere less than desirable. We were not... more

I thought that this was a great place to stay - it was in a great location to get to all the tourist sights, quiet and peaceful (not for people looking for a party), beautifully clean, lovely breakfast on a terrace with amazing views and all the staff were really nice and friendly. more

In a quiet street but very near major sites, the guesthouse is a tall, narrow house with two terraces with views of the Marmara sea. The family is friendly and helpful; breakfast is a generous buffet style meal taken on the terraces. We had a small double room with shared bathroom nearby which was fine for us, but most other... more

Stayed last June (2009) for 3 days. Great location, modest rooms but clean and breakfast is fabulous on the terrace, with fresh home made food. Family business here means making your service almost a personal responsibility for the staff! Very friendly and cooperative. One problem are the steep stairs, especially all the way up to the terrace for breakfast, if... more

The family are lovely and did everything possible to make us feel welcome and at home. Centrally located to restaurants, cafes, museums and tourist attractions. Rooms are clean with a traditional Turkish decor. Great breakfasts and roof top terrace that overlooks the marmara sea. Made our visit to Istanbul really special. more

The guesthouse is just perfect: ideal location in sultanahmet, very clean, very quiet, nice rooftop terrace, welcoming staff, good breakfast buffet, beautiful decorations on the wall. We had booked 3 months in advance and asked for transfer: they had not forgotten, elif's brother was at the airport to fetch us. There is a computer with internet that's free for the... more

This was, without a doubt, the cleanest and best-kept place I stayed in Turkey. The local family who runs it is incredibly friendly, personable, and helpful to all of their guests. The rooms are very simple and comfortable, and the rooftop terrace offers a breathtaking view out over the Sea of Marmara. Breakfast is fresh and excellent, I looked forward... more

Nice and cozy place, with greatest attractions within 5 minutes walk. Many restaurants and cafes nearby, but no problem with noise because it's "hidden" just around the corner. Very nice turkish breakfast on a terrace with beautiful sea view. Staff is the best of all, always helpful and ready to fullfill your needs, to inform and help to get along... more

Located within blocks of Topkapi, Blue Mosque, Cistern Basilica, and Aya Sophia, this owner run hostel is perfect. 15 minute walking distance to Grand and Spice Bizarre. Family members take care of everything. Always on site, the owner Elif, speaks english, has great advise about things to do, and prepares an outstanding breakfast complete with home-made jellies by her mother... more
