We stayed at the Turkuaz for 5 nights over New Year's Eve. Pros was the excllent and helpful live-in staff and the location which is close to local foodie places including an excellent local pizza place and lokantasi. Cons are the building is falling apart. Although the sheets and towels were clean and the staff try to keep the building... More

The charm of this place reside in two things: the building and the management. The building is a pearl and it seems like sleeping in the rooms of the sultan's castle. They are very heavily decorated, but charming. The management is very helpful, charming and welcoming. They helped us in anything we needed. Be aware though that the bed in... More

This old Ottoman house has become a delightful bed and breakfast in the Kumcapi area of the Golden Horn, within walking distance of all the major antiquities of Istanbul. The décor is definitely old world, with wonderful Venetian glass chandeliers, painted wood ceilings and ornate furniture. It is easy to see an opulence that existed 100 years ago. This was... More

I also went through many hotel listings looking for a nice play to stay within a certain price range in the Sultanahmet part of town. I read some great reviews of this hotel and found it referenced in some guidebooks on the area as well. I was a bit surprised by what was actually offered. It was an excellent area... More

I went through many, many hotel listings in Istanbul looking for somewhere both affordable (under 100Euro) and with character. This hotel has many great reviews, so I was confident all would be fine. We stayed in the Pasha's room. Pros: Extremely helpful and friendly staff Great decor. Felt like living in the old Ottoman era Satellite HD TV with a... More

My brother and I stayed here at the start and end of our trip around Turkey. Maria and her family gave us the friendliest and best service of anywhere we stayed and even looked after some of our luggage for over two weeks in between our time in Istanbul. It is a perfect location near the Little Aya Sophia and... More

We loved it here! We arrived exhausted from the overnight train from Sofia and were greeted with mint tea and cakes, along with a friendly chat with the proprietress and a cuddle from one of the many cats that haunt the hotel. She offered us a room that was slightly cheaper than the one we'd booked, and it was great... More

My 13 year old son and I have just got back from a stay at the Turkuaz. We shared a "Sultan" room with a double and an extra single bed in it. We were both very comfortable and what seemed to be erratic supplies of hot water did not matter at all in August. This is a marvellously eccentric place... More

We stayed here for 6 nights at the end of April 2011. We had booked a standard double room on the 3rd floor (4th floor for us USA-ians). Maria -- the very pleasant concierge -- also showed us the 1st floor Harem room for an extra 10€ per night -- and we took it. The bathroom was far superior --... More

Had two short stays in Sepetember. A wonderful start to our hoilday in turkey. Great breakfasat, all staff very friendly and helpful. They arranged transport to airport so we could be picked up at the hotel. Very good location in heart of old Istanbul in traditional residential area-thus very un-touristy and authentic. The hotel came to out rescue when we... More
