We stayed at that hostel for a couple of days in August 2004... and were really NOT impressed! The carpets and the wallpaper were really grungy and repulsive - we put some of the blankets on the floor to walk around. The beds were ok, we had a nice view of Saint Sofia right across the street, and it was pretty well located, but that's about it. It's also party/drinking Ozzies Central: we heard a lot of noise late one night, only to find fresh puddles of vomit in the stairs, on the walls, and plugging the only sink in the floor's washrooms... lovely. We asked to put our bags in the "storage room" on the last day, so we could do some sightseeing before catching our plane: the surly, gen - X front staff dude unlocked the door, then left us alone in there for 10 minutes, we could have stolen everything in sight... when we came to tell him we were done, he barked that he'd go lock the door "when he had a minute" (not that he was doing anything!) and we hung around... more
