I stayed here during the middle of May 2009 and had a great time. The staff was accomodating and spoke excellent English. The front desk had no problems booking day trips and giving advice about Istanbul. The hostel also has a rooftop terrace which ranged from very quiet to very lively.
A great location - don't believe everything you read about it being mega-touristy. It's a lovely area and guidebooks say the restaurant and bars aren't the best but we didn't find that the case. if you get the chance check out Sofa's restaurant and bar near to the hostel too.
