We had a trouble finding it - did not expect a hostel in a block of flats! But when we got there after long journey from Russia - we were so happy to get a clean and comfy room. We stayed in the 2 floor apartment and had it for ourselves - nice room, big lounge room with TV and... More

i am a mature [60+] female solo traveller and wanted a safe but inexpensive place to stay between excursions in mongolia. i chose zaya's because of other reviews on tripadvisor, but held out little hope it would live up to my expectations. i needn't have worried. zaya's is called a hostel, but it is really much more than that. not... Zaya hostel (behind Peace Avenue) is a great place to stay. We are a couple, stayed 3 nights in september 2011. For $30 a night, we got a clean double bedroom. For $15 we were picked up from the airport. The hostel has a very friendly environment, pleasing and inviting decor and did i mention, its very clean! Zaya insists... More

We are travelling with our 2 year old son and this hostel was a great place to stay. People were very friendly and it really felt like a home away from home with the shared living room. The shared bathroom was great, it even had a jacuzzi tub in it! Enough room for kids to play when it is too... More

This was my first solo trip and I was a little worried about safety. Zaya and her staff made me feel welcomed and safe. I had a private bedroom with a shared bathroom. They arranged for a driver to pick my up from the airport for $15. My room was $25 a night. There is also a phone avalible in... More

We stayed here for two nights in the middle of our Trans-Siberian journey -- such a great, centrally-located spot! Presumably because we were a group of four (two couples), we lucked out and got a very comfortable 2-bedroom apartment all to ourselves. (The shower pod was in the kitchen in our set-up -- pretty hilarious but worked well.) The common... More

I stayed at Zaya's for ~2 weeks while volunteering in Ulaanbataar. It is in a great location, just 5 minutes from the state department store. The rooms are comfortable and the common bathrooms are clean. The staff are friendly and super helpful. Internet is free and there is a hostel laptop you can use. There is a simple, but filling... I booked to stay 2 nights before a Habitat For Humanity volunteering trip at Zaya's after seeing the very good Trip Advisor reviews. I then found out that the team that I was joining had also booked to stay there, so I ended up staying there for 12 days! We were not disappointed- Zaya is a wonderful hostess, very attentive... Situated conveniently close to the core and the state department store, I don't see how you can beat the value. WiFi and laundry on site, a helpful owner who will even aid you in getting a pizza delivered (yes!) and clean and bright rooms. We stayed in a hostel in Banff 2 years ago as a family and I said... Zaya is a wonderful hostess and hires hard working housekeepers who keep the place very clean and tidy. Great place for the price! More
