I believe that calling the staff at this hotel incompetent, would be a compliment (same goes for Phoenix 75). I sincerely believe that a rock with eyes painted on it would have been more helpful. The hotel was small and cramped, there are many stairs, the rooms are not very clean, and the people are terrible. Did I mention I... more

I was a solo traveller from New Zealand, and wanted somewhere to lay my head at the end of the day, and the Phoenix74 fitted that bill perfectly. It is in the old quarter, an area that hasn't been polluted as much by western influence, therefore one became more integrated into the Vietnamese culture and lifestyle. The room (for one... more

How can people complain about this hotel??? When you pay such a low price, don't expect a palace. Get real!!!! We have paid 14USD for 2 people / night and that was good for me. Ok it wasn't very clean and the service wasn't great but I expected it to be the case. If you are on a budget, go... more

Very old and run down. Air Conditioner loud and not even cool. Bed uncomfortable and the bathroom in need of repair. Staff were friendly but didn't make up for the lack of comfort. Plus if you wanted to use the lift without your luggaget they wanted you to pay $2.00! Much better hotels for the same price in HCMC more

I traveled for 6 weeks in Vietnam. This was really the worse place. Besides that the room was nothing special and not so clean, they decided after making a priceagreement with me that in this price airconditioning wasn t included. Only thing was that they forgot to tell me. So I just found out when I wanted to switch on... more

The room was very small, with no sunlight and a little dirty, but If you bear in mind that you are paying 15 USD for a double room with private shower, breakfast and internet access, this is a good choice. Ask for rooms with no street view, because the noise can be high during the night. more

This hotel was a few dollars cheaper than some of the others on the this street. We were happy with our little room. The fan was good enough for us, there was hot water, and it was a central location. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Only one computer worked downstairs but it is a bit on the old side.... more

We have just returned from our 2 days stay at the Phoenix 74 Hotel. We had never experienced such a poor service before in any of the Vietnam's hotel. This is because when we asked for plain water from the hotel staff, we were told that no hotels in Ho Chih Minh provide free water to its guest. In fact,... more

The room was small, but nice and clean and (also important) not facing the street and therefore quiet. We felt that the owners and staff were very friendly. We really had a problem and had to see the doctor. They told us where to go and ordered a taxi etc. this was a great support which we appreciated a lot.... more

Previously known as the Huy Duc, this place in the middle of the backpacker district is a very comfortable place to stay. Run by a mother-son team, the family is very attentive and friendly but not in a pushy way. I stayed in a single room, which was fine - airconditioned, with a bathroom, sattelite TV. Small, not the height... more
