Stayed here a week. Excellent accommodation with a superb pool and fully equipted gym. Important to have some calm in a city as frenetic as Hanoi and this place certainly provides this. Word of warning though, the kettle doesn't boil properly so use bottled water and don't have high expectations of the restaurant. When using taxis we found it helpful... More

Again, the Somerset West Lake proved a great place for business travel; clean, good service, relaxing, few tourists and great value. I almost always stay here when visiting Hanoi, and if you don't like the mad-house that is the Old Quarter (and I don't), SWL offers peace and quiet. Food on first day was poor, but this seemed to be... More

I spent nearly 2 months in October and November here whilst working on a technical assistance project. The weather was great which made the Westlake even more attractive with its pool and recreation area plus you can walk around the lake in either direction and enjoy the sights as much as you can in Hanoi. The rooms are more than... More

The property is located along the West Lake with excellent lake view. Stayed in the 1-Bedroom Deluxe apartment. Generally spacious with decent in-house amenities. Well equiped in the apartment! It is pretty near to the Old Quarters, Hoan Kiem Lake, HCM Mausoleum, Flag Tower, Temple of Literature and other attractions. All rides are usually less than 15 mins for sure.... More

Stayed Here nearly 2 weeks completing the adoption of our daughter in Dec 2008. We flew to Ha Noi and took a pre-arranged shuttle to the hotel. Drive was about 25 minutes. Check-in was fast and they took all the bags to our first room, ground floor near the back of the hotel. The street noise was bad and we... More

I use the Ascott Group (Ascott, Somerset, Citadenes) for all my business travel. This is by far their worst property in Asia and well below their normal standards. I stayed in a 1 bedroom deluxe which was good and had all the standard facilities that their other properties have. Great views over West Lake. The pool area is nice. The... More

It was high fives when we walked in our apartment. We were on the top floor, quiet with fabulous views over the lake. There was a washing machine/dryer, very welcome after 2 weeks away. The bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are spacious and there's lots of channels on the tv. Also free wifi was a decent speed. The pool was a... More

Just spent 2 nights there with my friend from Singapore. Liked their resort-style and spacious room, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good (heard that they just changed the supplyer). We found some reasonable local restaurants in walking distance around the lake. Wish to come back for honeymoon.

While the rooms are nicer and newer than Somerset Hanoi Towers downtown and the staff is nice and helpful, the location is the worst you can get in Hanoi. Literally in the middle of nowhere. Nothing under 15-20 mn cab ride. In addition to that, breakfast is appalling. I have been in Vietnam for more than 10 years and the... More
