We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Hanoi backpackers hostel was a nice enough place, despite the fact that only one power outlet worked in our room. The next day they had to fix that and the shower door so they upgraded us to private rooms for no extra charge. The real draw of the place should be its... More

Cool place. It's a party as expected. Fun bar downstairs, the rooms are nice but broken AC wasn't fixed despite a few requests. Overpriced tours.

It's erverything you look for in a hostel. Nice staff, that not only do their jobs, but are fun to have around. Showers, Aircon, rooms, lockers, common room, internet, just as the backpacker likes it. Food and drink is not really cheap in the hostel, still okay though. Located directly in the old quarter you can count on a hostel... More

I stayed at Hanoi Backpakers for about 5 nights in April. Amazing place, great chill zone on the 5th floor with a baloney, pool table and free Internet computers. I stayed in a private double room with its own bathroom. Great location in old town within walking distance to a lot, or a cheap cab ride. Would stay there again,... More

This place has so much that is well thought out but it lets itself down on a few important things, mostly A/C that was switched off at 7am each day! That is ridiculous in Vietnam, I was told it was because electricity is expensive! that is garbage every other hostel in Hanoi can manage it and they are making $60... More

Stayed here for 1 night in April. Location is good (close to old quarter and lake). The hostel is renovating, so the rooms are right across no 48. The dorms are in one building (4 or 5 bunkbeds) with a shower and toilet in the room. They have convienend lockers under each bunkbed, with enough space for your backpack. It's... More

I'd heard this place was meant to be really social and so was a bit disappointed on that front. The part of the building with the bar was closed (for several months) and there wasn't really any space to chill out apart from 4 breakfast tables which you didn't feel like you could spend too long at since other people... This is your typical Western Style, party, get drunk, and act like a stupid backpacker kind of establishment. IF you want to enjoy what the Old Quarter of Hanoi has to offer, I would suggest you stay at an alternate place. On the bright side...they did have "free" internet...although it seems that all places offer free internet in Hanoi.

We did not stay at the hostel however we booked a tour to Halong Bay through them. The rooms in the boat (the Phoenix) were not very clean. The staff on the boat were very rude. This may be because they have to deal with drunken tourists on a regular basis, but still! The water is not included and is... More

I stayed in three different rooms in the same hostel, double + single, double and dorm with 8 beds. I can say they were all very nice, the price was reasonable, breakfast included, great location. The computers were not enough for the amount of people and they were not working fine or had conection troubles. Staff was helpful and spoke... More
