Stayed at the drift this December and couldn't recommend it enough, the hostel is a 10 minute walk from the top of the lake and the main area but this is no problem as there's free bike hire and cyclos are pennies although its an easy jaunt anyway. The hostel is spotlessly clean and the staff are more than helpful,... More

The staff here was excellent, very helpful and kind. They cleaned the rooms and bathrooms every day, a decent breakfast in the morning. Location was perfect for me, within walking distance to downtown and touristy areas, but not so busy that you were kept up at night by noisy neighbors. A couple of amazingly delicious restaurants are really close by... More

I met back up with friends I had met while travelling through Laos. I was a solo Irish traveller, who arrived, and explained I had some friends staying already, and would like to be in a dorm with them if possible, I gave them the names, but they didnt listen, as I was Irish I automatically got put in a... After reading reviews and being recommended in our travel guide we had high hopes for this hostel. Before arriving we emailed the hostel to ask for an airport pick-up to which they confirmed. After 20 minutes of waiting for the pick-up bus we called the hostel who said they had no record of or request and to get a taxi.... More

This place was not off to a good start with me as they stuffed up my pre-booked airport pick up (had to ring several times, probably spent 45 minutes trying to find them, and arriving in Hanoi at midnight tackling all the taxi-touts was not fun). The dorm was rather cramped - 6 beds, but had own bathroom for each... More

I moved to the Drift Backpackers, after landing in a really shoddy guesthouse and found that it was a friendly and fun way of meeting new travellers. The dorms were spotless, and had just been renovated, so sported a wonderful decor. The bathrooms were modern and well kept. There was even a movie room, and a bar was still in... More

if you just want somewhere cheap do sleep, the dorm beds are ok value and pretty clean. But thats as far as it goes. Do not under any circumstances use any of their services! We enquired about a Cambodian visa, which they said would cost $50 - which means $25 commission and the embassy was 2 minutes around the corner!... More

Pros: gorgeously clean rooms, large beds with own lamp and little side desk; great ensuite showers and toilet. Movie room lovely place to hang out of the bustle of the city. Aircon and big plus. Cons: it isnt what it says it is. You cant get free bikes...they are all broken; you can't watch movies unless you buy one as... More

We (group of five people) booked this hostel based on the award they got a few years back and the nice looking front side buzzing with backpackers. We reserved and paid rooms two weeks ahead (rooms: Sky view, best of what hotel has to offer, for two people and a dorm for 3 people) as they charge rooms upfront. When... More
