I had not been to Halong Bay for over 6 years and this place was not built on my last trip. Its a genuine 4 star place and possible close to 5 stars - for the price its a bit of luxury at a very good price. On the net you can get a room for around $us 50 with... more

This hotel was recommended by friends and a tour organization. After wandering through both north and south Vietnam, we found the Saigon Halong to be an oasis of cleanliness and luxury. An excellent value. The management's attention to detail is obvious....VERY clean rooms/lobby. Pleasant and well kept room furnishings and bedding. Top floor restaurant is impeccable and the breakfast was... more

We stayed here for one night, as part of a tour. It is a very nice and clean hotel, rooms were comfortable. Slipeprs and robes included. There are two restaurants . Although for a 4* hotel, the food was below par. For the one night it was OK. more

We stayed here for one night as part of a longer tour. We simply could not believe the size of our bedroom, it was huge. It had a massive bed (prob 2x doubles – see photo), comfy chairs, balcony, nice bathroom, good selection in mini bar including pot noodles!! There were complimentary bathrobes and slippers too. We ate in the... more

While in Hanoi with my family we decided to take a side trip to Halong Bay. After getting outragous quotes from travel agencies we decided to call around. Are we glad we called the Saigon! At first we had planned on over-nighting on one of the junks, but changed our minds after another couple shared their "buggy " experience with... more

This is not a 4 star hotel, so if you're expecting 4 star treatment and surroundings go somewhere else. The table clothes at the restaurant are stained, the staff barely understands what you need, no free internet in rooms (this is absurd), if you want wireless in your room a technician has to come over and connect it. Clean, neat... more

We only stayed at the hotel for one night as we were on a tour. The hotel was excellent. The location was very near to the harbour where we went on a trip round Halong Bay. The breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. The views from the dining room are breathtaking. more

For once, Halong City is the worst choice for someone willing to see Halong Bay. You are much better off going straight to Hanoi and arranging a Cruise / Catba Island transfer. From Halong City everything costs 10 times as much and nobody is very helpful. About the hotel, we were upgraded for free to a Seafront room, the view... more

We travelled to Halong Bay with a toddler so wanted to stay in a hotel and spend a bit of extra time rather than do the usual overnight boat trips. It was a difficult choice choosing a hotel as most seem to be pretty characterless. We booked the Saigon Halong as we got a special internet rate ($62 a night).... more

The Saigon Halong Hotel is luxurious by Vietnamese standards. It is near Halong bay, which is absolutely beautiful. The hotel has a friendly and professional staff, and the rooms have nice amenities. A problem that I had with the place is that the air conditioning barely worked. I was there in July, and found myself sweaty even after taking a... more
