Insist upon a bay view room and get geat views over Halong Bay. Ask for a room facing the marina, otherwise you will only see the industrial port area. Great breakfast. Well maintained room on top floor with balcony. Walking distance to some great restaurants on the shoreline.

Have never been a big fan of Novotel but this Hotel way have changed my opinion. We booked an Exec room which was very spacious, modern and with a chez lounge in the living area. The hotel is certainly of a great standard and the views are amazing particularly from the spa on the 3rd floor. Only downfall was the staff were not that friendly or warming but it is a large hotel so they may not have time for that.

Excellent bar. The two ladies mixing drinks and serving coffee (the Vietnamese coffee served here is the best in the entire bay area) are very friendly and nice. The concierge and staff at the bell desk are fairly rude and I would say the only negative of the hotel. Food is fairly good. Location is excellent.

We stayed here the night before our cruise on Ha Long Bay. I really don't know what the other choices for hotels are in this city. I suppose it served our purpose well. The staff wasn't too friendly. The food was very average. The breakfast was mediocre at best. Overall the next time I'd probably try to stay elsewhere.
