We stayed at A Little Bird for 3 nights and it was a perfect base for our trip to Chiang Mai. Right next to the market (get a fruit shake from TIP!!) and many great sights within walking distance. It's cheap, it's vibrant, it's clean and it's well located. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. Beds are a little uncomfortable and shower pressure is low but for 3 dollars a night who can complain!
